he barely knows how to play football... many times against dunfermline he had the opportunity to players in but chose to take the ball for a run and * it up as per. the boys useless. when he lost the ball he walked about waiting for it when he should have been sprinting back and fighting for it. he was an accident waiting to happen and it seemed quite rightly players wer reluctant to pass to him. celtic in this position cant afford to be carrying players like this through a match we need 11 players. not 9 men a donkey and a lump of * in goals

I tense up everytime he gets the ball, not cause I think he is *, far from it, its because I know if he makes a mistake he'll get a barrell load of abuse, which makes me cringe as a Celtic supporter. I find myself willing him on more than any other player, just to prove most of our support wrong. Some of the support even sound dissapointed when he does something right.

I agree he is frustrating, but I'd have him 3rd choice striker. For me if Fortune wasn't TM's signing, Sammy would be in the team. And as for Kamara, he is no way better than Sammy. Yesterday alone, Sammy done more postive things than Kamara.

    I feel the same.

On a similar note, when Samaras does something wrong it seems to stick clearly in peoples minds. The good stuff is forgotton (cross-bar, etc) and all the bad stuff emphasised.

For example, Pat Nevin was on the radio blathering on about Samaras' poor decision making skills and Robbie Keane was a beacon to all. O.K. so Robbie Keane is a hugely better player BUT

Keane worked his way throug a tight defence in the second half and at one point, with the score either 2-2 or 3-2 he decided to shoot from an impossible angle - there were 2 Celtic players lining up for a simple tap in. Strictly speaking it was a bad decision costing a goal yet nothing was mentioned.

Similarly with the penalty he opted to shoot when N'guemo had an open net. O.K. he really wants to open his account but again it was the wrong decision that the defender nearly nicked away.

These were clear goal scoring opportunities that the wrong decision was taken yet not a peep from anyone. Why do people jump on Sammy's back all the time? It's embarassing.

I agree strongly with the parts in bold. We've been told Sammy is a confidence player and the Celtic support react by abusing him at every mistake, it's cringe-worthy.

With Caldwell,McManus gone the fans need someone else to lean on and vent there frustrations at ,Sammi seems to be that player ,he does do a lot of good and his work rate should'nt be questioned but instead of encouraging him on ,he gets the treatment ,unfair really when so many others have had a poor season .

What are you on about Wayne Rooney? If your happy with a decent goal record and a hard worker then there are a few players that can fill that void. Being a Celtic striker means delivering more often than not. The guy just doesn't do enough to be a starting striker for Celtic. FACT!

he was signed as a striker, not winger, like most of the strikers we sign, they all want to play out wide, but the new Danish boy looks as if he knows where the box is???? thank *.

Totally agree, gives up when loses the ball, walks about like a prima donna, frankie bhoy could show him how to play for the hoops, should watch the tapes of the centenary winning team.

I think if u read the majority of the posts, i dont think thats what people think the problem is.

The guy gets his fair share of goals, which most strikers should playing for Celtic.

Its the infuriating things he does in between that * people off.

Your saying stats prove beliefs to be mythical, to pair his stats against Chris Suttons is a joke. Chris Sutton had probably his best Celtic performance at CB at Ibrox.

How many fans would take Samaras over Sutton in his prime?

Disagree with that, Kamara got a goal and put in the cross for the third.

Agree with you mate, re watched the match, Kamara barely wasted a pass and looks as though he has great vision to pick out a pass, and proved that with his assists yesterday. Very clever player imo.

That's not necessarily the comparison. Everyone knows Sutton was a much better player, and probably had a much higher assists ratio. But people complain about Samaras being terrible in front of goal yet his goal-scoring is comparable to McDonalds, Hartsons and Suttons.

People simply emphasise his misses and understate his positive contributions. Why do they do that?

No doubt because he's a frustrating player.. I've heard the word "unplayable" used when describing Samaras at certain times in matches and although it's not very often he's that good , it's hard to argue against it..
The goal against Spurs in the pre season cup is a goal that "arguably" very few strikers could manage..
Some of his link up play has been great for us while at other times you can't believe it's the same guy when he looks frozen stiff with just the keeper to beat or when it's easier to put a header into the empty side of the net than 5 yards over the bar..
Pace and precision when he's at his best... clumsy , greedy and wasteful at his worst.. He's one of those players that will always divide opinion because his game fluctuates so much , and you can be sure that at some point in the future (maybe once he's left Celtic) that he will have improved big time as a player and will be worth a decent wedge..

I heard it mentioned that he's at a similar age to Mcgeady but takes serious amounts of flak from a section of fans who are never anywhere near as scathing about Mcgeady...

We need to cut players slack , and remember that just because they are having an off-day doesn't mean they aren't trying their best... Sammy will come good again.. I think he enjoys playing for Celtic and after some of the talking he's done in the press over the last year or two , about the huns being * , he really needs to find consistency , string some top performances together to get the fans on his side , and do his talking on the pitch...

Sammy is not despised, it’s more a case that he tends to frustrate the fans, we know his potential but he drifts in games can dwell on the ball and doesn’t always choose the correct pass. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
I am not convinced Sammy is a 90 minutes player....he fits the impact role, coming on at about 70 minutes. We have such a healthy squad with a range of options, so let’s use them…<o:p></o:p>

I've pretty much reached the end of the line with Samaras. I'm fed up of him making the wrong decision at the vital moment. Punt him in the summer as far as I'm concerned.

Talking about him today in work actually. Admittidley, he has flashes of greatness that have you questioning how he done it, when somebody can walk up to him and take the ball from him while he's standing there.

He should'nt of been started on Sunday vs Dunfermline. He did start though, and he should of been subbed. Too many times he was standing still at the edge of the box waiting for the ball to randomly fall at his feet, instead of finding space somewhere.

Also, whats with all this sideways running? Why whenever he got the ball, was he running from the left over to the right? Then whats more annoying, is he would just wait for a player to run into him, and then fall to the ground as graciously as a ballarina.

Sorry, but if an offer ( nevermind decent offer ) comes in for him, then he'l be whisked right out of the team. But only if there's a replacement lined up.
