Amhrán na bhFiann is a nationalist song, you should the implications of what that means and therefore shouldn't be sung at sporting event that doesnt include an irish team.

It's all about interpretation. Some supporters have changed the lyrics slightly in some songs thus attracting attention. The Fields of Athenry is on the official Celtic Songs CD and will never be disregarded. As for other songs that some find sectarian, if they associate the song with it's origin and it's sung in it's original format, them there should never be a problem.

Who are you to say what should and should not be sung?? the song is not proscribed so end of story...the GB lads and others have been singing that for a lot longer than you have been a Celtic fan...ban the anthem but keep the tricolour flying over the north stand..is that not a wind up too by that logic??

Do the Stewards who are throwing these people out actually have a list of songs that aren't to be sang? OR do they just decide for themselves what songs they think are inapropriate?

Graham is right Dempsey. You aren't in the position to say what should and shouldn't be sung

I remember being at a game a couple of years back after galatasaray had knocked the huns out of europe, one of the guys with us had a galatasaray scarve and the stewards pulled him up over it and told him to put away the scarve or he would be evicted. We werent even playing the huns, maybe it was the hun stewards that were being offended?

what's happening with fans who were thrown out?

I have written it million times, but I'll never get tired: freedom of speech.

of course the club is able to forbid or ban songs and supporters from the groud, but at the end of the day that policy will damage the club. either no supporters anymore, empty stadium or the singing brigade is out of paradise, * poor calm atmosphere.

The Irish support is what makes Celtic bigger than the likes of Newcastle and birmingham and what not.Almost every second person in lisbon was Irish

I have been told by the a person that was there with these guys that there were no add-ons or anything of that nature.

I was pure * in lisbon singing BOTOB in the toilet some 'fan' says

"your a disgrace to the club"

    i went:

"one more peep out of you and i'll burst your face open"

he swiftly shut up then the whole bathroom followed my lead and were singing verse after verse and i leaned over to him and went:

"you hear that? we call you the minority"

I hate cvnts like that because they are not true celtic fans, they would rather try and appease the likes of hugh keevins than enjoy themselves,im a disgrace to the club how fvckin dare he

i go to evry match and sing my heart out as much as i can.

Political correctness is destroying the old firms in my opinion, people sit there not saying incase it might be contrewed as sectarian

We are on a slippery slope here, next they will be telling us when to sing. We are a Scottish club and very proud of our irish heritage, ejecting people for singing the Soldiers song is inexcusable. F**K the Celtic Football Club Board. Celtic and what they have always meant to me is slowly dying because of politically correct arseholes, who are a major threat to freedom of speech.:celt_2: :celt_2: :celt_2: :celt_2: :celt_2: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock:

I think they hear the huns singing their filth and then try to tar us with the same brush!

About time they actually sat and listened to the songs that we sing and listen to the words, instead of hearing an Irish sounding song and claiming its sectarian.
