I doubt it, although I don't think they will put up much of a fuss either.

So the plan is for this to run alongside regular domestic competition.

It's basically the Champions League on steroids.

FA's will eventually allow it imo. It will be like a diddy cup for the rich, like the stupid thing Man Utd went to years ago. Champions League is still the Big Cup so * them all and let them crack on.

Puts me in mind of the ICC friendly tournament they ran for a couple of years that we played in as well. The games would just be glorified friendlies the fans wont take it seriously

Recent statements are claiming they ain’t backing this but when this was being announced in the backround last winter numerous realible sources claimed the backed a breakaway super league away from Uefa. At the end of the day if they are going to earn a slice of the pie they will get on board like every other donkey fk the lot of them. It’s taking a while but seems like The top 6 in England got there wish after all all they tried to form a breakaway before the premier league was created.

If the champions League still goes ahead, then we have a much better chance of qualifying every year for it. Would it be as profitable? Probably not.

Wonder what the implications will be on transfers fees and wages outwith this league. Will there be less money in the top leagues or will Sky, bt etc still put the same in and split it more evenly ? Will fans from these clubs turn their back on it and support smaller, local clubs ? CL will become the EL basically.

These teams still plan on competing in the champions league though as well, is that not the case?

Why does thread say ‘FIFA backed’ when they are against this and threatening sanctions...?

I don’t think those greedy clubs give a monkeys... they know the money will follow them as will the more reluctant clubs like PSG and Bayern who are hedging their bets but will sign up as soon as it’s a goer...

My attitude if I was a fan of any other epl club would be ‘let them go’ their ruining it anyway.

If fifa really want to stop it their first sanctions should be on the tv companies who get told there will be zero other contracts worldwide if they touch it. Would soon put a spanner in it.

Although I suppose they would just set up their own tv company to broadcast.

Football lost its soul when the epl was formed.
    The morals soon followed.

Assuming it goes as the ESL plan, I would imagine Premier League cash will be unaffected and most of the money will come from what the Champions League currently gets.

Over time, the ESL might open up a bit and let more clubs in, but crucially the purse string will be controlled by Real Madrid, Man Utd etc., so don't ever expect a fair amount. This is the danger that people don't see.

We'll be faced with the choice of becoming a complete non-entity or we would need to join and be the perpetual Norwich of the League, and it would never change since UEFA would be gone.

Anyone shrugging their shoulders right now as if this won't affect us is delusional IMO. How a support that have had to fight against the establishment club for 100 years can be happy with a tournament run purely for cash by a few clubs (not even associations) is baffling to me, especially when at least one of those clubs has already been done for cheating in the recent past.

Thought they were talking about banning them ? Even if allowed, surely only a few would be if this involves completely leaving their domestic league ?

Basically putting money over everything if it means no CL or that. Playing purely for financial reward.

FIFA threatening to ban any players from teams signed up to the European Super League from playing in any domestic, european or international competitions.
