very good detailed post, and i hope you enjoy the games .......... but the real question is the extra packages being made available to season ticket holders. I have no problem with any person getting a special deal or special treatment in obtaining their regular seat....... but why the club allow them to buy 3 more seats is unjustifiable... ( the real reason for me is their need to identify every person buying a seat, that is why they want to limit public sales)

the discussion should not be about glory hunters or what defines a true fan / or who spends the most etc. The person who gave his petrov match tickets to his neighbour and his son -- that is a real Celtic supporter. The allocation system at present is very unfair and should be looked at. One * One ticket.........

To those with tickets, enjoy. Do us all proud and ensure the atmosphere remains special, you are all ambassadors for our club on these special nights. :shamrock:

I have no problem with ST holders getting packages, as long as not sold for more than face value. I also think its because the Club would like to know who has the tickets , yes if the ST holder takes 3 packages and sells them to some * who sets of a flare then at least the person can be traced.

No one is arguing for a general sale, though. People are saying ST holders should get first choice (but not the option to buy extra packages) followed by a sale based on some kind of points system (for matches attended).

Personally I can see two sides to the argument, but the current system undoubtedly does cause some quite perverse effects (as already detailed by Sween and others in this thread).

Not true. Some people (not me) do have enough money to buy the tickets at face value, but nowhere near enough to get them at the inflated prices that are now the only option left. Also, as I pointed out to Evil Bunny, no one is really advocating a general sale. They're arguing for some kind of points system.

True for those who are selling their extra tickets at face value (or gving them) to family amd friends, but not for those who sell their extra packages to scalpers or to strangers for a profit. A points system would have the same advantage only even more so (if the club don't have all your details, you can't accrue points for attending matches).

Well ok, as I said, if you did have the money and wanted to go, IMO you just didn't try hard enough

That's just the point though: more peope wanted to go than there were available tickets, therefore some peope had to miss out. It's simpky notbtrue that people didn't try hard enough, it's simple maths. The issue is whether the current system for distributing the tickets leads to fair results or not.

How am I missing the point ? You said the people that tried the hardest were the ones that got the tickets. That is simply not true.

First of all I said if you really wanted a ticket you would have got one, then I said in general the people who tried the hardest ( cued up first, got on the phone and Internet the earliest etc) got them.

I haven't had my season ticket for 2 years now, mainly due to work commitments. I go to as many games as I can home and away (usually midweek). I didn't know anyone with a season ticket who had a spare package left.

I really wanted tickets, because midweek games are generally the only time I get to see Celtic, but I didn't get them. I'm not overly fused with the full situation, as I'm going to Amsterdam and quite possibly Barcelona with the money I've saved. But that "If you really wanted it you would've got it" is a load of *.

I am a ST holder and I have to completely disagree with you. The only way to get a ticket is to have a ST or be friends with a ST holder. If you cannot satisfy either of these requirements it doesn't matter how badly you want the tickets it's impossible.

So, what about the 100s of fans that are in the same situation as me.

Your argument is pathetic. I take it you have yours, aye?

    I don't understand your argument

The only way you could gave got a ticket is to use season book details and be available that Friday morning. If you have no access to the phone or net at work and you couldnt take time off work then you couldn't have got a ticket?
