I almost never come in here but Swansea thrashing Valencia 3-0 in the Mestalla is just frightening. I feel like one of those old people who just can't cope with how the world has changed.

 

Another stoppage time goal... poor them.

 

I think its even funnier that Swansea had more Spanish players on the park in Valencia )

 

The Swansea result was great, but Valencia are nothing like they used to be. They sell their players to teams like Swansea now.

 

Any highlights of the games on tv?

I don't find that result very surprising, Valencia are in disarray. They've only managed to win one game this season and their manager has * off just about every player there, he'll be sacked soon.

 

Big result for Swansea though.
Will surly go down as their biggest and best win to date.
Fair play to them.

 

It will probably help them when they move into their new 75k capacity stadium. At least I hope so. The power of the EPL is amazing: Valencia is about four times bigger than Glasgow let alone * Swansea.

 

A Welsh team in the EPL is better than us. Would they be better if they played in the Welsh league?

 

This is a little disingenuous considering Swansea have been in the Football League since the 1920s and their identity and heritage is firmly rooted in English football, despite being a Welsh club. Its not like 10 years ago they hopped over from the LoW and flourished thereafter.

I knew that, why do you assume I didn't? I wasn't insulting Swansea; I was commenting on the power of the EPL to turn the footballing world I grew up with upside down on occasion.

 

Indeed, it was Wigan's first competitive game in Europe.

I was at the game yesterday and the football was awfull (due to the rain and the slippery pitch probably). Zulte Waregem were better.

 

EL should be abolished and CL should be extended to 64 teams.
In the current CL, top 2 of 8 groups can proceed to last 16. Under the new system, only the top team can proceed to last 16, and the 2nd teams qualify for the CL next season.

 

I watched the game last Friday and Waregem were very unlucky not to win. They had plenty of chances but just couldn't finish.

I like the EL.

But what i see happening in the near future is the CL extended to 40 teams and 5 team groups.
Top 2 go to the knockout stages as usual.

 

I think they should just make the europa league for national cup winners like they did for cwc
