Watching England tonight, I don't know how to explain it, but I wonder if the UK as a whole with football just seems to lack something with any of our homegrown players.

You see other nations with poor leagues or tiny nations, produce talents that seem to be as a minimum, excellent at the basics of the game.

But within the UK we seem to lack "it" whatever that is exactly is what I'm struggling to articulate but something just seems missing with British players

 

Does Bellingham play attacking midfield for Madrid ?

I didnt think so

I'd have played him as one of the two and told rice to sit and him to get up and down the park use his athleticism, and played foden as the 10

 

I’d love it if Kane went right through his whole career without ever winning a league..

Record scorer for just about everything but never actually win anything..

 

Also look at the manager. I don't know if any of the top 6 EPL clubs would gamble with Southgate. Foden looks better with the movement off the ball in Pep's system.

 

Clowns running football in this country have a lot to answer for. Not as if we lack facilities nowadays or anything. Such a loser of a nation, in football. Yet we can compete in loads of other sports against bigger nations.

If the favourites progress the quarter-finals will have Spain vs Germany and France vs Portugal.

 

England have a few players that are technically brilliant though - Foden, Palmer and Mainoo immediately come to mind. Two of them haven't even seen a minute yet under Southgate lol.
