    My thoughts. I am sure his agent let him know that he damaged his reputation hugely after the Iceland game.

    I said a couple of days ago, Ronaldo is basically now just a goalscorer. A brilliant one, but that's all he does. He's obsessed by it.

    He's still quick over a short distance, but you never see him running at defenders any more. He's a brilliant finisher on both feet and is outstanding in the air, but he seems to have become pretty limited.

    Messi is by far the better footballer. Intelligence on the pitch will last longer than pure physicality.

    If teams are on the same points with identical head-to-head record it goes down to goal difference. If GD is the same I think it actually goes down to coefficient, which would see England through.

    I don't think it was a PR stunt. This has happened countless times in the past at games and training, and he does the exact same thing, always lets the fan get a pic etc.

    I'd agree that he was advised to make a concerted effort to applaud the fans and not leave the pitch so hastily, that looked evident, but the fan thing was just coincidence for me.

    So much cynicism and hate for Ronaldo.

    I don't hate him, quite the opposite actually. Particularly as a player.

    His arrogance off the field, however, is * poor and the comments after the Iceland game are indicative of that.

    PR stunt or not, it was convenient that he was made to look the nice guy after the massive backlash towards him following the Iceland game.
