Dunno if this has already been discussed in here but there is a definite advantage to being in groups E and F here as although all the teams in the same group have to play their past games at the same time. The teams in E and F will already know what is needed to get one of the best 4 third places.

I was aware that he was playing in the Celtic matches but I don't distinctly remember him.

Having grown up watching mostly English and Scottish football, seeing a player that cool in possession was a rarity. He played as though he had wing mirrors, just knew where everyone was.

Started to watch Barca more after they played us, they were just so good. Xavi was always my favourite.

I mind it clear as day, weirdly the two best performances I can ever recall witnessing were Xavi in that game in 2004 and Riquelme in the next round. Two of them are the only 2 up to then and since I ever recall thinking that they were just so good and hadnt seen anything like them before.

It was the way Xavi always just turned in circles and then passed the ball to another midfielder when pretty much all other players always just turned backwards and passed it to a defender or they passed it on quick out of panic. Xavi sucked players in, turned backwards, sideways or whatever moved past the player and then kept the ball moving.

His performance there will probably remain along with Riquelme to the best i've seen as back then I was quite young so never really knew what to expect and was kind of caught off guard, since then knowing much more about football and players you know what to expect off world class players so are never really suprised any more.

Spain - good football but a severe lack of penetration. They don't have enough quality up front.

 

they need a David Villa type player pity he's stepped down from international football.

 

I feel they are somewhat better with Morata than when they used that strikerless system, before. I love how Croatia do not refrain from crossing the ball, and are willing to break up the passing spell to take shots often.

David Silva is the best and worst of Spanish football.

Beautiful technique and a really graceful footballer, but lacks a killer instinct.

 

Bring Ciftci on at half time

 

In all honesty, I think he's overrated.

He was fantastic in his first season at City, but since then he's been very hit and miss. Scored a lot of goals a couple of seasons ago but his overall performances have just been so inconsistent for such a long time.
