    What are they actually thinking?

Flag saying * save the Queen while making * salutes? :smiley-laughing002:

Or will they come up with some excuse that it's a 'red hand salute' like these knobs :smiley-laughing002:

Aye I know I read up on it all a while back and it's a load of bollocks.

Of all the 'shows of allegiance' you can do it has to be a salute like that..:smiley-laughing002:

Aye ok lads. The irony of being in the forces and doing that gesture is incredible. Veterans of WWII must wonder sometimes.

The red hand is an Irish symbol, bizarre how they co-opted it. Some of their favourite ditties are stolen folk songs as well.

Aren't the types who throw a * salute in public usually only too happy to admit to it though? Usually it's because they're racist *, and they believe in the ideals to go along with it and wear it as a badge of honour.

I've seen plenty of football fans do that one arm salute at games and suchlike, so I don't think every photo of someone in that position necessarily means a * salute.

Aye it's bizzare. That whole supremacist thing that they've copied on from the nazis..

They really are idiot's and guy's from Preston and all over England who cotton on to it, I bet couldn't even point you towards Belfast if you had it coloured in on a map....but are staunch loyalists and all that..

Maybe it doesn't but it throws up a lot of the same connotations for me.

It's just an excuse to hide behind, IMO.

Again, the types who throw these salutes usually want to be noticed doing so, otherwise they wouldn't do it in front of a camera! :smiley-laughing002:

I don't buy that every one armed salute is a * salute.

So, what is it then, if not that?

It's awfully similar. This 'red hand salute' is a load of nonsense, for me. Even if they believe it has no connotations with the * ideology they surely have enough brains in their tiny skulls to realise the glaring similarity:smiley-laughing002:

I'd love to hear what they think it stands for. Fact remains it's an incredibly idiotic gesture and one of, if not the most offensive you can do to a lot of people.

It really depends, I've even seen some of our fans chanting and throwing one arm up, which if caught at the right time by a photographer could look suspect, sometimes the person will be pointing, sometimes their hand is open, sometimes it's in a fist etc.

All I'm saying is that I don't think everyone who is caught in a photo in that position is throwing a * salute.

    Obviously not everyone, no.

The * above though..there is definitely more to that than meets the eye. For me, anyway.

    Brainless.

The British Army *? Oh aye, they're at it! Didn't realise I'd quoted that picture when I made my point for some reason :smiley-laughing002:

I'm more meaning football fans etc, who've been snapped by a photographer mid-song or chant.
