    aye very good ... england are a top seed and had a * group. fair enough, we could of done better against lithuania and lichenstein, but lets not forget czech republic cheated us out of a place in the playoffs.

    england are an above average team, and thats it. they will more than likely always be one of those teams that make it to the next round and thats about it. if they were to go through tonight, then i would of expected an even more boring semi-final, with more or less the same outcome. england played for penalties tonight lol dont let them fool you

    If it wasn't for all the * we need to listen to, I would have actually wanted England to win on penalties there. Only so they would come up against the Germans, I imagine Gomez and co would have fancied themselves to bury quite a few with chances like Italy had tonight.

    Carrol is in the team and didnt score as many as hooper in the same league ,ok i know he offers something different ,although the way england played hooper wouldnt have had many chances to score so would not have shone.

    As I said on here a few days ago, England are light years behind the top footballing nations. Alan Shearer said "We're 5th, 6th or 7th best in the world" at the end of the BBC coverage, that is up for debate but they are an absolute country mile behind the likes of Spain, Brazil, Germany, Argentina and Italy.

    When you consider the resources and infrastructure England have at their disposal compared to Scotland, I would say England are more inept than Scotland are. And they are also miles behind the Irish when it comes to punching above their weight.

    They like to believe they are a footballing superpower but when they have to play with the big boys they are nearly always made to look like the diddies they are.

    England, on paper, have a great team they just can not play together like they do at club level.

    Gerrard - awesome for Liverpoo, * for England.
    Rooney - awesome for ManUre, * for England.

    etc etc

    Best players England have is Cole and Terry in my opinion as they are the only ones that carry there club form over to England.
