    This

Shame for the Ireland fans who traveled over, they were the loudest I've heard in the tournament so far, they gave the team great support even at 3-1 Croatia

What chance have we got when we are putting up Whelan and Andrews against the best midfield in the world

Someone told me today that there is a rumour McGeady will be played as an attacking midfielder against Spain with Whelan and Andrews behind him. I think McGeady would cause problems from the centre, playing on the wing for Ireland really doesnt suit him.

Sadly I can't see mcgeady getting much joy in the middle against busquetes xavi and Alonso.

I'd be skeptical about his chances to be honest

And after his performance against the Croats I'd nearly start McClean ahead of him

It doesn't look as though McClean will get any game time at all, as Trap has basically said he's too young to handle the pressure.

Which begs the question, why the * did he bring him?

    Experience for the future.

Some players are took to the Euros knowing that there won't be any game time at all.

Mcgeady would be better on the wing Italians got a bit of joy down the flanks the other day. The fullbacks for Spain tend to get caught out a lot.

I think just behind the striker would be better, give him space to move into and attack. Hopefully catch them on the counter.

Same here, if there's one person that's used to carrying a team on the counter, it's McGeady. Give him the freedom he needs, ditch the predictable 4-4-2 and Ireland stand a better chance. All the teams seem to know exactly what Ireland are already going to throw at them.

He's the only player in the Irish team with enough pace to manage to get them up the park quickly. Even the likes of McClean isn't a whippet, McGeady is.

The amount of times I seen him in Europe manage to get us 50-60 yards up the park by just giving him the ball where he had to run was brilliant. Similar is required here.

cant see mcgeady troubling them too much tbh.
i would say croatia are 1 level above ireland, and spain are at least 2

What does everyone think we will play and what does everyone think we should play against Spain ?

    We should play, IMO:

    ...............Given
    O'Shea Dunne St.Ledger Ward
    Duff McGeady Andrews McClean
    ............Doyle Walters

    we will play:

    ................Given
    O'Shea St.Ledger Dunne Ward
    Duff Andrews Whelan McGeady
    ............Keane Walters

Keane wasn't good last week but he shouldn't be dropped. 451 may be better against Spain.

I just feel Walters would be more effective than Keane. Maybe play this?

    ......................Given
    ......O'Shea Dunne St.Ledger Ward
    Duff Andrews Keane Whelan McGeady
    ...................Walters

I dont know much about Irelands team but i dont think you should play 4-4-2

    I'd play a 4-2-3-1 with this

    Duff McGeady McClean
    Keane

Then play whatever your best defence & CM is.

We play a long hoof ball and need a striker who wins headers. Doyle, Walters and Long can do that so if we are to play a lone striker it would be one of them.

Dont play a long hoof ball then :icon_mrgreen:

I dont know maybe put one of they 3 up front with Keane just behind him and McGeady on the left.
