Well we all know what's likely to happen. :56: If we are still in with a chance going into the game against Italy we might just squeeze through.

Spain easily, it will be between Croatia and Italy for second, I want Ireland to do well but I can't see them progressing.

Spain won't get out of the group.

    Ireland and Italy to qualify.

The reigning World and Euro champions didn't get out of their WC group in 2002.

They didn't even score a goal.

I can see Spain struggling against Italy and Ireland.

Italy aren't that good. Very beatable.

some of their results in the qualifying stages:

Estonia 1-2 Italy. Italy came back with 2 second half goals to overturn a 1-0 deficit. Ireland won in Estonia 4-0.

Northern Ireland 0-0 Italy. They failed to beat the team that finished 2nd from bottom in the group. A team ranked 100th in the world.

Slovenia 0-1 Italy. They scraped through this game with a 73rd minute winner. They only had 6 shots in the game compared to Slovenia's 5 shots. Suggests a very 50/50 game.

Faroe Islands 0-1 Italy. Scraped through with a 1-0 win over the 118th ranked team in the world.

Italy 1-0 Slovenia. Yet again they scraped through with a late winner. 85th minute this time.

Serbia 1-1 Italy. Italy had already qualified for euro 12 at this stage.. still not a very impressive result. They had a very strong team out too. Buffon in goals, Maggio, Chiellini, De Rossi, Marchisio, Cassano, Pirlo, Rossi.

One thing you have to credit the Italians with though, is their very good defence. Conceding only 2 goals in 10 games is very good.

    Spain 1st
    Italy 2nd

Italians tend to do well when there is controversy on the home front...

I'm tipping Spain to win this group.

I'm not so sure who will finish 2nd though. I am leaning towards Italy but I don't think the Italians have a great team at the moment. One of the other two teams could pull off a shock and sneak 2nd place in this group.

Think Spain and Croatia will get through. Tbh I don't think it would be too much of an upset if Croatia qualified ahead of Italy.

As much as I want to see them do well I think Ireland will struggle, think they'll get a draw against Italy and that will be their lot.

Anyone could qualify out of this group. The favourites aren't all their cracked up to be, and the underdogs have got lots of grit and determination. Should be interesting.
