Celtic are monitoring RKC Waalwijk goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen, according to reports in the Netherlands.
The shotstopper, 28, is out of contract this summer and the Hoops are considering a free transfer swoop as they seek a replacement for the retiring Joe Hart. Vaessen is said to be an attractive proposition for the Scottish champions' recruitment team but PSV are also interested, claims Brabrants Dagblad.
The 6ft2in keeper has kept four clean sheets in 22 games in the Eredivisie this season and has spent his entire senior career at Waalwijk, making over 200 appearances for them. Hart, 36, will hang up his gloves at the end of the season after announcing it last month
Celtic therefore on the lookout for a new number one with Scott Bain and Benji Siegrist the other goalkeepers at the club.
Fans have wanted the club to target the position for some time anyway with criticisms of Hart, especially in Europe, but he has performed fairly well this season -
This guy seems more likely to sign as number 2, not 1st choice.

Already branded a dud I see. Good stuff, at least he's got the backing of the fans.

Whoever done his highlight reel is having a laugh.
Every * bang average save palmed straight back out.
My personal favourite was the one he inexplicably palmed back out to the striker and it cut off just before said striker almost certainly burst the net.Last edited: Mar 18, 2024 -
