Some of Chelseas arrivalsover last 2/3 seasons. Reported fees.

    Enzo F £100m+
    Lukaku £100m+
    Mudryk £90m
    Havertz £70m+
    Fofana £70m
    Werner £50m+
    Nnkunu £50m+
    Cucurella £62m

    Loads of others between £30-50m.

Crazy money. What does FFP actually do? Plus they rarely sell anyone for huge money.

    FFP is a broken tool.

It is designed to specifically help the "big" clubs spend more than then smaller clubs.

What use is a system like that when it makes no difference to the landscape of the game, all it does it help build further divides between clubs that don't have the revenue to clubs that do have the revenue.

Look at Celtic as an example just for arguments sake... because of the league sit in, we could have a conglomerate of the world's 20 richest people all combine their wealth and buy the club, but because our revenue we generate domestically, FFP would mean we wouldn't really be in a position to have anet spend any more than £35million every season on transfers at an absolute push.

The world of football would never allow it but if they wanted true competition, there would be a flat spending cap across the board irrespective of revenue each club can generate.

Arsenal being linked in the rags as spending £60 mill on Havertz and then £90 mill on Rice.

    The game is broken man

Havertz is a good player, I think Chelsea using him as an out and out striker because they had nobody else was the big problem. As an attacking midfielder I think he is really good.

Ways around it, signed many of them on 7 year contracts to spread the money over a large period. A new rule has come out since that the maximum you can do that is for 5 years but the rule isn't retrospective so Chelsea look to have gotten away with it.

Interesting video, but £21m to Brighton for Potter, that's mental. European TV money of nearly £100m is going to * them too isn't it. It's Chelsea so I can't say I'm sad.

Apparently their next sponsor is Stake.com but only on the short term, possibly 1 season for 2 reasons. 1) Gambling ban on shirts from 2026 2) They know they would get shafted because they are not in Europe this year and if they get 4th place next season they can sign a much better contract.

Personally I think it's criminal how Chelsea failed to utilise talents like Havertz and Werner.

But then they know how well to waste talent

Good luck trying to be a success at this football club with the chairman * you over time and time again.

Rice is a good player. But if he was an Italian playing in Serie A his price would be worth half of that, maybe more.

English tax + EPL tax = ludicrous fees.

Don't know why people are surprised anymore, it's been this way for about 10 years. That's why I like Brighton and to a lesser extent Brentford, they still use their money wisely and pick up gems for a pittance then sell them on at the right time. They're never in trouble because their recruitment is set up in a way that allows them to continue this process without hampering their progress.

It's the same model we should be emulating. If the last few seasons are anything to go buy then it seems as if we're attempting it - i.e. Jura for Johnston and Giakoumakis for Oh. Good scouting is imperative for this though. It will be interesting to see if we continue this should we lose CCV, Hatate, Kyogo or Jota. That's the next big step for us - getting more for our best players and then investing wisely so there is no drop off.

There's a reason dortmund etc are picking up English youth like sancho and Bellingham and developing them. Even easier for a £100m+ payday after a year or two.

Kovacic is a good player, City spotted they had to sell. Koylibally was a waste of money though.he was about to turn 32 but they still spent 30 odd million on him.

Big signing for Arsenal, wouldn't expect them to spend £70m.

Get it rooonyezzz carragher and Neville. Greetin about all the players going to Saudi league. Good on them.

Not surprised all the Saudi owners have suddenly realised why buy teams in England to buy players….when they could just bring them to Saudi teams. It’s exactly what English teams have been doing the last 15 years since the sky bubble so * them and that league. Saudi teams be in the champions league within 10 years if eufa want a piece of the cash pie
