Manchester United have confirmed Denmark international goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has signed a new four-year contract. :icon_mrgreen:

    Anders pens new deal

Anders Lindegaard has signed a new four-year deal with Manchester United, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2015/16 season.

The Denmark international, 28, signed for the Reds in January 2011 after agreeing a deal the previous month. His debut arrived soon after, in an FA Cup fourth round tie against Southampton at St Mary's.

Lindegaard has since played 13 times for United and looked sharp on each outing. A string of confident performances even helped him displace David De Gea from the number one spot in January 2012. But his status as Sir Alex's first choice was unfortunately brief; a knee injury sustained in training ended his season prematurely.

Fully fit again and, judging by his performances on the DHL Tour, in fine form, Lindegaard says he's delighted to put pen to paper on a new four-year deal.

"I'm very pleased to have signed a new contract," he said. "I'm glad and proud that the manager has shown the confidence he has in me by giving me a new deal.

"There is nowhere in the world I would rather be than right here. The competition for places is tough, as it should be in a club like this. It only makes us better as individuals and, more importantly, stronger as a team.

"It's what I have dreamt of all my life and nothing makes me more proud than wearing the Manchester United badge.”

Sir Alex acknowledged Lindegaard's development and admitted the Dane has the potential to pose him a number of selection dilemmas in the forthcoming campaign.

"Anders is still relatively young for a goalkeeper but he has come on leaps and bounds since joining us last year," the manager said.

"There is healthy competition in the goalkeeping department, which is always good for the team, albeit a headache for me!

"I am delighted he has signed a new contract and also delighted to see that he has clearly returned from the summer break in good shape after the disappointment of suffering an injury last season.

Chelsea's John Terry has denied an FA charge of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand and has requested a personal hearing.

Could see Arsenal doing well this year.

    Scezny

    Sagna Koscielny Vermaelen Gibbs

    Sahin Wilshere Song

    Cazorla Giroud Podolski

Only problem would be the fact City/United/Chelsea have much better overall squads.

Aye, Arsenal are building a good team. I wonder with these signings, will Van Persie be convinced to stay. They could still do with a LB, and another top class CB as Vermalaen is very injury prone

I`m actually really looking forward to the EPL this year. All the top sides are bringing in attacking players and they all seem to want to play the right way. Although I hate the *, Chelsea should be brilliant to watch this year. They could do with a couple of defenders as well though

    -------------------Cech-----------------
    Ivanovic------Cahill----Luiz----------Cole
    --------------Ramires--Essien-----------
    Oscar------------Mata------------Hazard
    -----------------Torres-----------------

Torres will run riot with the creativity there if he regains his form. There were glimpses of at Euro 2012

    OSCAR TO WEAR 11
Posted on: Mon 06 Aug 2012
Oscar will wear the Chelsea number 11 jersey.
The midfielder, who is currently with the Brazilian team at the London Olympics, will fill the shirt vacated by Didier Drogba in the summer.
Drogba had worn the shirt since 2006, when he replaced Damien Duff having previously sported the number 15.
Prior to Duff, Boudewijn Zenden had inhabited the 11, having replaced the legendary Dennis Wise who had worn the shirt from when squad numbers were introduced in 1993 until he left for Leicester in 2001.

Cannot believe the club offered him new terms. It's not like he's even been at the club long, either!

Shows he's here for the long-term though.

"There were certainly a few clubs who were interested in him but over the off-season he and I communicated well - and he's committed himself for the long term here now."

He'd need to be...only signed last year, on a 5 and a half year deal. Although, it wouldn't have surprised me if he pulled a Tevez and decided he'd rather spend time in a golf cart in South America, than in rainy England.

On the back of a pretty woeful season, as well. I cannot understand why they gave him a bumper wage packet, when he's just been a * in general, ruining the club's image, and hardly setting the world on fire on the pitch, either.

Liverpool need a 20+ goal scorer in their team, like Torres was. I can't see Suarez being as prolific, especially when he's injured or banned. He certainly has the talent to, but not this coming season.

Even though this is probably Chelsea's best starting 11, I cant see them leaving out Lampard and Terry.
