Stoke City: Mark Hughes protest is staged by Potters supporter

He may be just hours away from being appointed as Tony Pulis's successor as Stoke City manager.
But one fan has already staged a protest against former Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes being appointed at the Britannia Stadium.
A season ticket holder spent Tuesday driving around the Potteries in a van sporting a "Hughes out" banner, a sign that cost him £50 to make.
Hughes, 49, is expected to be unveiled as the Potters manager by the end of the week after Pulis's seven-year reign was ended by mutual consent earlier this month.

The Welshman, who has managed Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City and Fulham, also faced criticism from the Stoke Supporters Club on Wednesday.
The supporter Carl, who did not want to reveal his surname, believes Hughes's managerial record should not make him a candidate.
He said: "It is not just me, it is the thoughts of 90% of Stoke fans. Security made me move on from the Britannia so I drove around.
"I parked on motorway bridges and people were beeping their support at me and taking photos.
"He is not a long-term appointment, look at his track record, but it looks as though he is going to be appointed anyway."

Hes one gobshite is suarez, begs madrid to come and sign him and then tries to say he had no support after liverpool the club, the players, and most of the fans did nothing but support him whilst at times embarrassing themselves in the process, especially dalgiesh who lost his job over the head of him (probably not solely that). He'd fit that current madrid side well if they buy him, a talented *.

    MOURINHO APPOINTED

Posted on: Mon 03 Jun 2013
Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Mourinho as First Team Manager.

Mourinho has signed a four-year contract and will return to the club where he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups between 2004 and 2007.

Ron Gourlay, Chelsea FC Chief Executive, said: 'I am delighted to welcome Jose back to Chelsea. His continued success, drive and ambition made him the outstanding candidate.

'It is our aim to keep the club moving forward to achieve greater success in the future and Jose is our number one choice as we believe he is the right manager to do just that.

'He was and remains a hugely popular figure at the club and everyone here looks forward to working with him again.'

Since leaving Chelsea in 2007, the 50-year-old Portuguese has worked in Italy with Inter and Spain with Real Madrid, lifting three league championships, two domestic cups and the Champions League.

Originally appointed at Stamford Bridge in 2004, immediately after winning Europe's top competition with Porto, he quickly achieved success securing his first trophy for the club as early as February 2005, when we beat Liverpool 3-2 after extra-time in Cardiff to win the Carling Cup. We went on to win the league that season with a record 95 points and a record low of just 15 goals conceded in 38 games.

The club celebrated consecutive championships in our centenary 2005/06 season, secured with a 3-0 win over Manchester United in late April, and the next campaign we were able to add the Carling Cup with victory over Arsenal in Cardiff, and the FA Cup when United were beaten again in the first senior game at the new Wembley.

Mourinho departed by mutual consent in September 2007, going on to develop his already impressive CV by winning the Serie A twice in two years and the Champions League with Inter, before joining Real Madrid in 2010, where he lifted both La Liga and the Copa Del Rey, ending his stay in Spain yesteday.

He brings three coaching staff with him in Rui Faria, Silvino Louro and Jose Morais. Each carries the title of Assistant First Team Coach and will work alongside current first team staff Steve Holland, Christophe Lollichon and Chris Jones.

The new manager will be officially presented in a press conference at Stamford Bridge on Monday 10 June, further details of which will follow in due course.

hope Liverpool go for benteke if suarez goes.
would like to see this side for Liverpool next season

    -----------------mignolet---------------
    micah--Papadopoulos--agger--Enrique--
    ---------------lucas leiva-----------------
    ------gerrard------------coutinho--------
    higuain---------benteke--------sturridge--

would love to see higuain included in the suarez deal, think he would thrive playing every week. Also think its gonna be a good season for sturridge and if benteke went he would have a great season in that team, also expecting big things from coutinho. would like to see glen Johnson punted and micah Richards come in. also have some half decent players to come in such as Henderson, iago, toure, borini, allen...

    players to go:

    reina- 10m
    suarez-40m
    downing-5m
    skrtel-8m
    Johnson-8m
    carroll- 15m
    sterling- loan
    suso- loan
    shelvey- 3m
    spearing- 2m

that's 91m not to mention the saved wages, Liverpool are in bad need of a good clearout like this.

Wigan have agreed compensation with Everton for Martinez. Be interested to see how he does there. His record is not that good, though everyone seems to think he is some kind of messiah.:97:

If Liverpool get rid of Suarez and Gerrard and make a few good signings, they could get top 4 again.

I reckon he will be sacked before the end of the season. A bold statement I know, especially as we don't know how the team will shape up, but that's what I can see happening. I think the Everton job is virtually a no win post to be honest. In my opinion, I think anybody would struggle to do as well as Moyes has. Everton have punched above their weight under Moyes, and I don't see Martinez being able to do the same. But the fans will want the same level of consistency as they have previously had. So should Martinez start poorly, the fans will be on his back from the off I think.

Tottenham midfielder Andros Townsend sanctioned after breaching betting regulations
At an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Tottenham Hotspur’s Andros Townsend was suspended from all football and football activity for a period of four months, subject to any appeal, backdated to the 23 May 2013 when the player voluntarily withdrew from the England Under-21 squad.

However, three months of the suspension is suspended until 1 July 2016 and will be automatically invoked upon a proven breach of The FA Betting Rules during that period.

Townsend, who was also fined £18,000, was charged for breaches of FA Rule E8(b) for misconduct in relation to betting, which he admitted and requested a personal hearing.

Will be interesting to see how Martinez does at Everton. Moyes basically played route 1 football punting up to a big striker/fellaini in behind most of the time and then tried to get down the wing and get crosses in.

Martinez teams play the total opposite by trying to pass from defence forward, keeping possession and letting players roam.

If he could get 4 guys from his Wigan team McCarthy, McManaman, Maloney and Kone plus a centre-back and punt Heitenga, Oviedo, Naismith, Pienaar and Jelavic they could be good.

    Would love to see

    Howard
    Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines
    McCarthy Fellaini
    McManaman Maloney Mirallas
    Kone

An Everton fan on SSN just said he hopes he brings in some better players, plays better football and "makes us as good as Liverpool" :97: you'd think Everton fans would be slagging Liverpool about finishing below them than hoping they are made as good lol

'Ill get you in the Champions League ', was his first words to Bill :56: deluded.

Come and get him - Kenwright on possible Everton sales: "One player [that'll be Fellaini] has an escape clause. The others are not for sale"

Or, not. Because that only happened over a year. Since then, we've signed Coutinho and Sturridge for a total of 20 million, since we've got a new scouting team.

Big changes going down at Anfield, expect Reina, Suarez, Skrtel or Agger, possibly Downing and Henderson, to leave.

Papadopoulos, Mkhitaryan (hopefully), Aspas, Ilori, Mignolet, Luis Alberto, etc.

Is he getting mixed up with real life and his Football Manager save?

    Roberto Martinez's Premier League managerial record played 152, won 38, drawn 43, lost 71 - win rate 25%. :87:
