Hoping Newcastle go down. Nothing against Newcastle or their fans just hate Alan Pardew.

Good assists from Maloney. Unlucky with a free kick as well.

Lovely play from Maloney, puts it on a plate for McMenamin.

Maloney was * outstanding once again. Deserved to be nominated for player of the year imo. Also should have been in team of the year

They rave about him every week Good to see. Undoubtedly a telented player, was just unlucky here. Looks to have overcome his injuries and is really showing his talent.

    Villa game up now

Could see Maloney getting a move to Liverpool, Everton or that. He deserves it. Not quite good enough for a top 5 team though.

My favourite team of the year is:

    De Gea
    Vertonghen Ivanovic Shawcross
    Michu Cabaye Toure Maloney
    Benteke Van Persie Lukaku

Not been the best players, just for me been some of my favourite players!

If Maloney was foreign like Spanish or Brazilian teams would probably be willing to still pay £5/6/7/8million for him even though hes 30 but because he's Scottish teams will only offer £2/3million.

    Mines have been

    Cech
    Clyne Jagielka Williams Baines
    Luiz Dembele
    Townsend Sturridge Maloney
    Suarez

Was close between Townsend, McManaman and Sturridge.

Would be great to see Bale and Ronaldo in the one team, they should punt that diddy Di Maria and Kaka and sign him.

Usually I would want Wigan to go down as I just don't really like them, no real reason, it's just the club I guess, they're not really a Premier League club to me. Their stadium and average attendance figures are * too. Worst support in the EPL surely :smiley-laughing002:

But since there is a chance that Newcastle could be relegated, I hope to * Wigan survive once again for the 4th time running (or whatever it is now) on the last day of the season and relegate Newcastle in the process.

Kind of like Michu? Err, *. Most of the Spaniards/Brazilians sign for the rich teams, who overpay for any player. Charlie Adam went for an absurd 7m or so for having one good year at Blackpool. His nationality didn't seem to hurt him. Let's leave the persecution complex and the Maloney worship behind a little bit.

There is plenty of proof to support what he is saying, though. Clubs are notorious for signing 'fashionable' players, such as us signing Rafael Scheidt. :88:

I agree, but there are reasons. Rangers signing Tore André Flo was hardly a sexy signing. I think that when clubs have money, especially in the UK, they're pretty stupid with how they spend it. There are cases of clubs wasting money on many players - one being Robbie Keane especially. Being Irish is hardly a sexy nationality in football like Spanish or Brazilian. Basically there are cases of horrible signings everywhere, Brazilian clubs and Spanish clubs produce a lot of talent and so chances will be taken there. For established talents though, I don't think the bias exists. I'd agree that a 20-year old Scottish kid won't fetch the same transfer fee as Coutinho even if he were to be as good, but with Maloney being 30, much of the risk is gone. It's kind of silly to paint him as the best left-sided player in the Premier League who is getting slighted because he's Scottish.

I see it a lot on American forums too, this persecution complex. It's just kind of annoying to see especially since I consider Celtic supporters to be much more savvy in general than the Americans on BigSoccer.
