Dalglish set Liverpool back 10 years with his signings, complete wastes of money. I still think of Rodgers as the man for the short-medium term. I can see Liverpool in 3-4 years after this one as a top 4 side (who knows where Spurs, Everton and Arsenal will be when Bale, Moyes and Wenger leave), some decent players and good football. They'll patch Rodgers and bring in a "bigger name" to push for the title.

It's a good move by Utd. £15m a year for your training ground name when it hardly ever gets a mention on TV other than deadline day. Doubt they'd sell the rights for OT though. Wonder how much they'd get for it?

Setting them back ten years? That's dramatic. He spent a lot of money, but none of the players he bought were really awful.

Downing, Henderson and Carroll were all far too expensive, but they can all be very useful players.

The Liverpool team at present is nowhere near good enough to challenge for the title. It would certainly take more than two or three players for them to get close. It is going to take two or three players for them to even break into the top 4!

Carroll was an awful signings in my opnion. A striker costing £35million, and scoring 6 goals in 44 apps, that is awful.

Say 5 years then. The amount Dalglish spent should've been got a lot better than Stewart * Downing.

    I dunno.

Suarez, Gerrard, Agger and Reina are all top class players.

Johnson, Skrtel, Enrique, Lucas, Henderson, Allen, Downing, Sturridge and Carroll are all good, experienced PL performers.

Then they've got the likes of Coutinho, Assaidi, Borini, Sterling, Shelvey, Wisdom, Kelly, Robinson etc who could all turn out to be good for them.

That's a decent squad, they just need two or three proper quality players in my opinion.

Suarez is the only real top class player they have in my opinion. Gerrard was, no doubt about that, but not now. Agger is nowhere near world class I don't think. Reina is a good keeper, world class, in the same bracket as Buffon & Casillas, I wouldn't say so.

Oh yeah, that scoring record is pretty awful. But if you forget about the price tag and take his ability in isolation, he's a useful player. He's different to what they have and has proved with Newcastle and West Ham that he can be a serious handful for defenders.

Oh yeah, way too much money on a pretty average player for them. But he is still a decent player for Liverpool. Like with Henderson and Carroll, the price they paid distorts their actual ability.

I'm not saying they're the best in the world, but they're among the best in that division in their position.

Their problem is asside from Reina, Suarez and Gerrard to an extent, their players wouldn't get into the first team of clubs above them. They're squad players compared to the top 4. Yes some of them are decent players, but they're certainly no better than decent. Losing Torres, Alonso and Mascherano without finding replacements has really set them back.

Wonder if we'll get a few songs off the Manchester fans about Thatchers death?

I'd love to think both teams will just go for it, given there's nothing to play for but pride.

It should be a good game, although sometimes these derbies fail to live up to the hype. Atmosphere is never really great either, for some reason.

    I'm saying 3-1 to United.

City only really missing Aguero otherwise at full strength, no excuses for them tonight.

Barry and Milner are such average players IMO.

4231 for utd too i guess, thought kagawa would start although giggs has been great lately when he has played. Happy RVP and rooney are both starting.

A lot of the players playing are for the two best teams in England compared to 10 years ago.

The two best teams in England 10 years ago were

    Barthez
    Neville Ferdinand Silvestre Neville
    Beckham Keane Veron Giggs
    Scholes
    V.Nistelrooy

    Seaman
    Lauren Keown Campbell Cole
    Ljungberg Vieira Gilberto Pires
    Bergkamp
    Henry

The worst possible team out those two was probably

    Barthez
    Lauren Keown Silvestre Neville
    Ljungberg Gilberto Veron Giggs
    Scholes
    Bergkamp

Yet look how good a team it is.

    Now...

    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Nastasic Clichy
    Milner Carrick Jones Barry
    Nasri
    Welbeck

Look how bad that team is.
