Think it will be Lambert was stuff on twitter last week about Villa making contact with Norwich to find out about compo etc.

    Mat Kendrick ‏ @MatKendrick
Reporter: 'Paul, will you still be at Norwich at the start of next season?' Lambert: 'Erm, erm, erm, it's difficult to answer that'

McCleish agrees severance deal with Villa. West Brom have a vacancy, surely not.

Imo Lambert would be mad to take the Villa job, I think he's done really really well with Norwich and should stay.

Agree but he can take Villa to a new level . They have tons of talent in the youth and are geared up to play his type of passing footy.

Given a bigger budget he would do well . Seen the talent he took to Norwich City on a tight budget.

Villa should be going all out for Lambert or martinez .

:56:Watch them go for Bruce or Mick McCarthy.

What a ridiculous appointment that was.

Villa are a complete mess. If they were a boat, they'd be floating in the middle of the Pacific with no power and the Captain has been on the booze. They're being squeezed out by the more resourceful competition.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish and assistant Steve Clarke have flown to Boston to discuss the club’s future with owner John Henry and chairman Tom Werner.

The Reds’ management duo have flown to the States in order to speed up the discussions, rather than Henry and Werner returning to Merseyside for talks.

Anyone else think the trophy looked sweet as * yesterday, with the light blue and white Man City ribbons on it?

I guess it's because it's refreshing to see a change of colour on it too :50:

Ha ha ha * man united! Spouting all their bitter, "they bought the league," pish. The richest teams always win the league. Man united were spending insane money when others couldn't, now it's city doing it, it's a crime. Even Blackburn won the league through splashing the cash. Well in city.

No one has spent on the level Man City have apart from Chelsea when Abramovich took over. Man U spent more than the rest but over time and on money earned, not from an instant cash injection.

They were still spending more than anyone else though over them years. And man city aren't spending their own money? just because they don't have the world wide marketing capabilities doesn't currently mean their owner can't splash the cash. where it comes from is actually totally irrelevant in this case, if you're spending more money than anyone else can no mater where it comes from or over what period of time, it's the same deal.

How are man united in so much debt anyway, and how is them spending above their means any different to what the huns have done? They must owe somebody, somewhere, so someone is being cheated.

Jesus Christ, we've been over this so many times. ABUs can't seem to comprehend basic facts that stand in the way of their "arguments".

I dont really see any distinction.

Man Utd outspent every team and so dominated England. They also were smart enough to spend a fortune to create a marketing machine that sold their brand around the world. In doing so they were able to expand on their initial success and become the mega club they are now. Until last season they were around £750m in debt (off top of my head) and had a freaking bond issue to reduce it to around £500m. In what way was this debt earned? They are a more successful team that most others in short because they spent more and have greater debt facilities. That is why they are top most years and all the other teams are not.

Chelsea and now Man City are doing the only thing that one can possibly do if they want to win the league they play in - they are bankrolling success. If they didnt do this then Man Utd would just win every single year as they spent the most money first.

On a side note, Im pretty sure almost every non-old firm fan would point out that this is exactly what celtic and rangers have done in Scotland. Just to a less glamorous extent. Sad as it is, if you want to win stuff in football nowadays you have to spend big.

An article on the BBC made mention of the players United have introduced this season, such as David de Gea (21), Phil Jones (20), Tom Cleverley (22) and Danny Welbeck (21). They'll be the spine of the team over the next few years. Likes of Smalling and the Brazilian twins, as well, at the back. Maybe Pogba in midfield....could be a useful team.

Hopefully add a couple established players in the summer to strengthen the squad, which has been pretty weak this year.
