Right now what exactly is puyol better than kompany at ? Nothing imo.

I think Barca have only lost 1 of the last 50+ games that Puyol has played.

 

Last ditch tackles, getting that wee extra bit out of a player that puts his body on the line for the club. Puyol is one of the rare players that can do that, Jamie Carragher is another.

There isn't a lot of them about anymore.

 

Hes not though, despite your stats and barcas domination which is mostly down to their pressing game it is well known barcas defense is very vulnerable when you can get at them. As far as individual ability goes kompany is currently better, hes great in the air, decent with his feet and has excellent positioning.

 

I think Barcelona's defence is only 'well known' as dodgy when they don't have Pique and Puyol partnering each other.

Then it is without doubt the best back 4 in Europe.

 

So do Thiago Silva and Lucio but its still Puyol for me.

If we could have anyone to play with Mulgrew for the hun game or the Cup final it would be Puyol.

Thiago silva is the nest centre bqck in the world at the moment imo. And i would rather have kompany over puyol and pique as well although barca have been chopping and changing the defence all season puyol and pique have made numerous mistakes this season which looks as if its cost them the league.

 

With Pique and Puyol together theyve picked up 19 points out of 24. Without Pique and Puyol together theyve picked up out of 32 points out of 45.

Think thats cost them more than anything that out of the 23 League games so far Pique and Puyol have only been on at the same time in 8 of them.

 

Yet more evidence this week for what I said earlier this season - the EPL simply isn't the force it used to be.

Man U and Man City both pumped out the Champions League at the group stage, and now Arsenal and Chelsea well on their way out at the round of 16. It's comfortable odds-on there'll be no English interest in the CL quarters.

Epl is a money spinning league, no real chance for youth players or * all , its the wag of the football world .

 

How's it nonsense? Back when Liverpool had Alonso,Mascherano and Torres, Man utd had Tevez and Ronaldo and chelsea's key players were younger all three teams were always competing for the champions league. Now the standard has dropped. Had Man city had there money in 07-10 they wouldn't be top of the league.

The Wolves board are very stupid. Sacking Mick McCarthy and then appointing the assistant manager to manager for the rest of the season. Why not keep Mick McCarthy for the rest of the season to see how he does? very silly.
