England would be great for us, indubitably, but they don't want us. We should be looking to other countries with big teams dominant in their leagues. A Euro league would be fantastic, although the travelling would be a nightmare.

If Catalonian independence happens there is a big chance of an Atlantic league being formed, Barcelona will not join the Spanish league.

There is more than one Celtic company. The debts aren't held by original Celtic company that deals with the day to day running of the club. I'm not posting links on here but if you do a quick search on company check you will see all this for yourself.

It is there in black in white. It isn't a big secret. It isn't a big deal either as it is a more than manageable long term debt. We are still in great financial health. I wasn't trying to be a doom and gloom merchant.

Agreed... id be prepared to accept a brand new euro league, where we can get involved at the formation. Scuttling to the english with a begging bowl, getting pumped up teams and angry opposition fans every week and having to tow the FA line on everything... no money worth this im afraid.
Not to forget that we'd sink Scottish football overnight, or * forbid tie it with a ribbon for the new huns indefinitely. Fuuuuuck that...

I'm torn really. The EPL does represent many things that are wrong with modern football however, that's where the party is for the moment.

There are two issues though, one with staying and one with going. I see people saying that they'd rather the Scottish league caught up to the EPL. That will never happen. It's not that it would be a long way away, it just won't happen. We are too small a country. Only possibility would be the EPL crashing down to our level which also is not very likely due to the level of investment.

The other issue is that the only circumstances that I could ever see us being invited into the EPL would be if they decided that they needed us. That would probably mean that things wouldn't be going so well for them, and I'm not sure I'd be clambering onto a sinking ship.

i think your under estimating us a bit here. Celtic are a massive club world wide. Playing in the epl would not only give us the money to bring in world class players but we would also have the added attraction of playing in the epl.

i honestly believe we would at least be top with in 5 years

we already compete with the average epl team atm, moving the the epl would bring us to the next level

A European league would see the decline of the away support which would be a very sad day for Celtic.

I agree with you for once. The logistics of a European league would be a nightmare for fans.

They would say going to Amsterdam and Lisbon is great but the novelty would quickly wear off.

Also, it could also mean the end of the European Cup which would be a sad day seeing as it is by far the best football competition on the planet.

Look it up and you will see that I'm not wrong. I told you I'm not posting the links on here. Anyone with half a brain can do a Google search and see that I am telling the truth.

I don't understand why Celtic fans are burying their heads in the sand and shouting from the rooftops about having no debt. It isn't even a big deal. These loans don't have to be repaid for years.

Not a chance. Not even for all the money it would be worth. I know this league isn't exactly good, but no way on earth would I want to be any where near an English league. A Scottish team representing the English Premiership. No * way. Plus the bias would be unreal in my opinion. All the media etc just waiting for us to to make an * of it, no way.

If we ever want to see Celtic win the champions league again, realistically the only way this is going to happen is with a move to England. Celtic would be jumping at the chance to join if we were ever invited.

The people saying no seem to be doing so on nationalistic grounds which is a bit daft.

Celtic prospering is more important than who we represent in Europe.

    Those liabilities are:

Debt element of Convertible Cumulative Preference Shares £4,345,000
    Deferred income £119,000
    Trade and other payables £14,048,000
    Current borrowings £489,000
    Provisions £1,240,000
    Deferred income £9,253,000

Deferred income is money owed to us that counts as a liability until it's recieved. So right away £9.37million is not a debt but rather our money. The share debt also isnt really a debt, it will never be paid unless we get liquidated or such like.

The only real debts are the £14million owed to other clubs(£3.2m), players and money we know we will definetly spend(10.8m).

The provisions are money we put aside to cover money we thought we'd loss, so again thats not a debt unless you think we can be in debt to ourselves.

The real debt or money owed out of that £29million is only £3.7million(£3.2m to other clubs and £0.5m borrowings). As the rest is stuff we've only noted down we know we need to pay - which happens every year but gets paid and money we are owed, which again always gets paid nobody ever doesnt pay us what they owe.

So out that £3.7million we actually really owe, we are also owed £3.9million from other teams for players.

The only other money owed aside any mentioned above is the £10.5million loan to the Co-Op.(That is the only non-current liability aside from the Share as I said that will never be paid, the rest are current meaning they are going to be paid within the year)
