In effect we compete for points for ourselves which we must share with the other teams. We get no benefit from the other teams in the league because they rarely win.

All of that is speculation. We wouldn't know how it would work out unless we actually gain access to the EPL. Many things are simple in theory but a lot more complicated in practice.

Where is this no debt talk coming from as well ? We do have debt. Look at the accounts. We have loans in excess of 30m that will have to be paid back eventually. They do actually exist btw.

If Celtic had the chance to join the EPL they would and should jump at the chance, when the Huns died a lot of the excitement died as well, forget sevco, they will never give what rangers did in terms of completion.

We don't, as of the 2013 accounts we only have £10.5million of the loans to pay-back and had no overdraft to pay. So we had £10.5million debt not "loans in excess of £30million" and we have over 5 year to pay it back. At that time we had £14.3million in banks:

    £4.1m in Co-Op
    £0.1m in Allied Irish Bank
    £2.8m in Barclays
    £2.8m in Santander
    £4.5m in HSBC

As of the half term report the loans were down to £10million and we only had £500k overdraft. So we had basically £10.5million bank debt but we had £16.6million cash in banks.

When you have debt you could pay off if you wanted to without even having to sell anything, then its not really a debt.

Irish club represents Scotland, Irish club represents England... meh...

Would like us to move down immediately if the opportunity ever arose simply because it would be the best thing for Celtic.

Celtic will represent Celtic in the champions league and that's all I'd care about.

    * the English Premiership. I know this would never happen but I'd rather see Scottish football building itself up. Shame it'll never happen anytime soon but we're in the Scottish league as a Scottish team representing Scotland in Europe and so on.
    Let's just deal with it.

Hooper, Wanyama and Wilson must have been sold for £20.5million(which would fit in with their quoted price tags of £12.5m, £5.5m and £2.5m) as we sold £4.024million worth of players for a profit of £16.489million.

Could play on the moon and Celtic would still be Celtic. Want what's best for the club, and that's Euro league or EPL.

Don't start the whole Scottish or Irish thing again

We're called Celtic for a reason. End it there.

Im not convinced we'd be finishing in the European places.

Look at the mess Man Utd are in for example, they're a pretty big club.

But how many times have they finished outside the CL places in the last 20 years?

Generally, they end up winning the league. I think it would take more than a move to the Premiership to get us to the size of a Man Utd but we would be up there with the Liverpool, Arsenal's and Chelsea's in terms of fanbase very quickly imo.

I think Celtic should do everything they can in order to get off the sinking ship that is Scottish football. It's a complete basket case, with corruption, bias, short-term thinking and bigotry at its heart.

It should not be an issue but in reality it is hard to escape from it on here. The 1st mention of this issue came 2 minutes after the thread was open.
For me if it came to a choice between becoming a soulless club in England or just another Scottish club in Scotland then I would choose England.

However were it a choice between being a smaller club in Scotland as we are at present(for me Celtic is how I perceive it and not what someone else tells me it is) or a bigger club in the EPL then I would stick where we are. The EPL has become too corporate and represents all that is bad in football.

Spot on. We're neither Glasgow Thistle nor Glasgow Hibernian; we're Celtic. :50:

Generally they do, but thats because they had one of the best managers in the history of the game. Some people think we're gonna go into the premiership and finish in the top 4 every year, its wishful thinking.

We can have as big a fan base as we want but we'd be lucky to finish top 6 within our first 5 years of being in the premiership. Clubs the size of Man Utd and Liverpool don't always make it into the CL. Look at clubs like Leeds and Nottingham Forrest and the mess they're in.
