Scottish football is dying? Only if we continue the way we're going. Nobody thinks that the current Alloa team would improve the SPL but a larger league with everybody playing each other twice and playoffs for relegation and for the Uefa spot to keep it interesting until late in the season would, over time, start to regenerate interest IMO. The massive disparities in wealth have created a kind of snobbery in the modern game. I can remember watching highlights of games like Morton v Dumbarton with genuine interest as a kid. I imagine most kids today would find such fixtures "unglamorous" to put it mildly. We need to get back in touch with our heritage. When young men and women in places like Paisley see teams like St Mirren as representing their community again, when they can stand up, drink and express themselves in song and with banners and any other reasonable way they see fit, the future of Scottish football will be assured. People will always want to watch Barça play Madrid or Manchester Utd play Liverpool and other such games; but television is a passive activity and always will be. Now matter how clear the picture gets and how comfortable your armchair, you can never be a participant.

While all that makes sense their is also an argument for the reverse. An amlagamation of teams should see fewer but stronger teams more able to sustain a long term challenge to us. Some of these teams may be able to cause a small impact in Europe. I am probably not as ell versed on the geography and population spread in Scotland to elaborate but only the 2 Edinburgh teams and us should be immune to this.

To be honest I am about as cynical as one can get regarding scottish football and I would welcome almost any chance for celtic to leave the scottish league. To me a sport without equal competition is broken and money has broken our league. A move to england would lead to celtic playing in a far more even playing field.

Of course there is big money to be made but that isnt why I would like celtic to leave. The reason is simply because I no longer see any entertaimment value in our domestic set up and I see no achievement in running over teams you can buy and sell many times over. It isnt celtics fault and it isnt any other teams but it is how it is. Money has ruined natural competition and to get it we need to go elsewhere. Supporting a monopoly is just not interesting and until we leave crowds and interest will continue to dwindle.

You never know Scottish independence could revolutionise scottish football.
A Scottish BBC paying Scotland its fair share in a t.v contract could finally give some money to grow the game. We will never compete with England but it could be a start.

Maybe if Scotland got to host a major championship, then money goes into re-building stadiums and infrastructure, like it did in Poland. Chances are not that likely that that will happen, so at some point another team from Scotland has to try and get through the qualifiers and do something in Europe.

Aberdeen look like they could progress, but a lot of the teams in the league split the possible fanbase by having two small clubs as opposed to one big club. It's the old thing about clubs merging and generally neighboring teams hate each other so that's unlikely to happen.

Celtic in England would be a crazy adventure. Tricky financially, but the Premiership is just such an exciting league to play in. If you think about how big a club we are in our league, premiership would only make us bigger. Quite how big is probably greatly underestimated.

Chances of it happening are low. But we would be serious contenders if we could take on the debt it would take to get through the lower leagues.

But right now, i think next season we can compete in Europe. Another good window and we should have a right good team in place

I sit on the fence on this matter would be good for us as a club going forward but wouldn't be fussed if it never happend as we are a scottish club. Would like to see what teams in the EPL would be for it and who is against it. But if it ever happens we wont walk into the PL we would have to start from scratch we wont be allowed straight into the prem.

If Swansea and Cardiff are still considered Welsh clubs in England then surely we would just be an Irish club playing in England?

Funny, because that statement you've just made makes you come across as the very thing you're accusing Scottish people of being.

Would love us to get a move to England.

Wouldn't fancy a European league. Spend all season travelling round Europe playing European teams. Then if we win the league our prize is....... A European Cup entry?

    It would bore me tbh

Don't want anything to do with English football, clubs have sold their identity down their on dreams of a mid table finish or avoiding relegation.

The focus has to be on improving our own league, I have no doubt that if Celtic went to the prem we would be bought over by some Rich Arab who will change our Hoops to red and white stripes and rename the stadium Saudi Aramco Arena or summit like that.

Do people honestly believe someone would be allowed to change our shirts to red? Massive underestimation of our support there. We have more backbone than the likes of Cardiff.

Very true. Cannot see how any insane move like that could ever fly at Celtic. I would say though if we ever did move to the epl we would considering the massive worldwide appeal of our club make a very big target for some very wealthy people no doubt about that. Hopefully we would be able to resist but we would be a target.

Where do you guys think fan power comes from? Do you think that if we were owned by some billionaire with questionable morals and the vast majority of our income came from TV money, sponsorship deals, naming rights etc, we as fans would still have the same clout as we do now?

I think you guys are being naïve.
