Had a shocking game but players will have shockers he has took a long time to come back from his injury and i think with a bit more time he will be back to his best.

Some fans think he is a world beater for having a great first season in the SPL, big difference playing teams like Juve ect.

It's took us a very long time to get a good left back (he is a very good left back IMO) i would like Lennon to bring in someone else at left back for cover or even push for a place

he actually played well some of his crosses were poor but not much else wrong, got caught on the break a few time as did the whole team because of needless give aways not his own doing but nothing came of it

think he should be moved to left mid or play on the wing... he has a good enough engine to get back to help / cover break aways by opposition but for me his lack of ability in the air coupled with his being caught out of position 'far too often' means he will never be a solid defender

    luv the guy

just don't think we are getting the best out of him

What has happened to Izzy lately. He's been a bit inconsistent all season, but lately he seems to be on fire one match and absolutely dire the next (the last two matches being a case in point). Is it a confidence thing?

    He has caught Leenaylorsyndosis.

Brilliant first season......* every season then on until he leaves.

I really don't like him now (as a player), total bombscare. I would sell him or have him as back-up, competition may do him good.

I thought he was brilliant against Aberdeen, awful at the weekend right enough. I just wonder what's wrong.

Often a player becomes a bit sketchy until you bring in some competition. That's what we should do imo.

Celtic fans are the worlds worst for becoming too familiar with players and more specifically their faults whilst taking for granted their good points. He's struggled for form but he's not been as bad as some are making out.

I would have to agree though he requires genuine competition not Mulgrew and Ledley - the former's worst position and the latter being played there purely because he's left footed.

Izzy gets far less stick than Lee Naylor used to get and yet their Celtic careers are almost carbon copies of each other. They both came here largely unknown to the fans, they both had fantastic first seasons at Celtic and then in the seasons following that they never got close to that level of performance again.

Naylor was treated pretty * badly by the Celtic fans in all honesty. I always admired him for the way he kept getting stuck in and would always look for the ball instead of hiding, even when the fans were getting on his case.

Lee Naylor was not as good as Izaguirre. I remember Naylor doing virtually the same thing every game - that was gathering the ball in the left back position, carrying it 5 or 10 yards and attempting the same high long ball towards the corner intersection of the opponents 18 yard box on the same side - as he was neither good enough technically nor fast enough physically to do any of the really class things Izaguirre done consistently in his first season and has done sporadically since.

I cannot fathom the memory of Naylor's first season as being anything comparable to Izaguirre's. In fact on here is the only place I have ever heard it tbh.

I'm not saying he was *, but he was not exactly anything more than decent even on his best day. It's part of the reason we all fell for Izy fairly quickly; the difference in class was apparent.

In Lee Naylor's first season, he was absolutely incredible and was by far the best left back we'd had since the 80's.

After that, his form sunk lower than Ally MCCoist's * under pressure of gravity.

Izaguirre hasn't put in a proper decent run of form since the end of the 10/11 season imo. Granted he suffered a bad injury in August 2011 but he's never recaptured that form in his first season. Played well occasionally this season but his bad games far outweigh his good ones unfortunately, Teale * destroyed him on Sunday.

    If you say so.

I think if you look at the two players Celtic careers then it's a fair comparison to make.

Lee Naylor wasn't capable of putting in performances like Izzy did against Juventus at Parkhead this year.

Personally I think our defence hasn't been as protected this year as it was in Izzy's first year here, leaving him isolated.

Maybe not. Naylor was capable of doing as well as Izaguirre has done in about 90% of his performances in the last year though.

I don't think Izaguirre has as good an understanding with Samaras down the left hand side as he used to have with Kris Commons. Commons seems to spend a lot of time playing centrally or on the right side of midfield these days so that has put an end to the link up between him and Izaguirre. Those two worked well together.

Very important point. I've been mentioning this for ages. It's so obvious he isn't as comfortable with Sammy on the left wing as when Commons played there.
