I don't think it would have to be honest. I don't mean in terms of the team, I mean for Izaguirre. I've said this for ages now, when Samaras plays infront of Izzy, he isn't the same player. He can't get forward as much as Samaras doesn't provide any cover for him. Also, when Samaras receives the ball, he is looking to turn and run at defenders. Mulgrew is a better option for Izaguirre as he waits for an overlap, and when Izzy is bombing forward, that is when he is at his best.

Aye, Samaras has no inteligence and doesnt know how to link up with players or work as a team. He's a one man team.

He doesnt move inside to open the wing up for Izzy, or take the ball off him and let Izzy past him. He plays himself and is too unpredictable for anyone to really do anything with him.

I hate when Samaras plays infront of Izzy. It's strange, because Samaras has good movement when he plays through the middle, he drags the centre halfs all over the place, but his movement and positional sense when he plays out wide is poor. He just seems very unaware of what is round about him, he gets tunnel vision.

Samaras does go back, he doesn't just wait for the ball up front. Anyway it wasn't even necessarry to provide cover as Juventus weren't threatening at all on the left.

Yeah, his game is more concentrated on going into the box from left flank rather than crossing, but he doesn't do it all the time. If a full back got himself in space he would pass, Samaras can provide space by pulling players in the box and leaving a gap on the left.

He doesn't though. I've seen it plenty times, when Samaras plays left midfield, Izzy normally has a poor game. Samaras does not sit in for him if he goes forward. Samaras is good when he is running at players, trying to play neat one, two's is not his game. Mulgrew and Izaguirre linked up well last night in my opinion.

Hopefully, finally, back to his best.

Was fantastic last night. MOTM and that includes Juve players. That moment he flicked the ball over some *'s head then controlled and carried on dribbbling - :notworthy

Thought Izzy was top draw last night, him and Wilson kept the left side of our defence solid and Izzy was getting up and down that wing like his life depended on it.

When I saw his name on the team sheet I was worried. Proved me wrong. He was absolutely outstanding, our best player, ran up and down the wing all night long and put in many dangerous crosses, just a shame we couldn't get on the end of any of them.

Our only real attacking threat in the Juventus game. Sad really.

Superb again today, great to see him looking fully fit and horsing up and down the wing. Ledley and him have a good understanding too, Ledley knows when to slip him in and to keep inside to leave him room. :notworthy

Two trains of thought about Emilio Izaguirre................

    1. He's an excellent player who was unlucky to get a bad injury and can't seem to find his best form since.

    2. He's a decent player who played above himself in his first season in Scotland.

For a long time I believed 1. I am now beginning to think that 2 is the truth.
