The red card kind of negates how well he played, does it not?

Oh aye she was a really good wife until she cheated on me.

He cost us two points and gets a well done? :56:

That's utter bullshit. Two totally different things. No one is saying he'll get a pat on the back either. Professional footballer in stupid tackle error. Never happened before ever!!!!!!

    Settle petal..

Professional footballer in multiple stupid tackles when already on a booking and kicking the ball away in a important European away fixture at a critical part of the game...

Izzy has been going downhill for the last two seasons, he aint been anywhere near the player he was before breaking his leg.

In short he has now become a libility as far as defending is concerned, errors against Malmo, now errors of judgement against Ajax last night have cost Celtic dear, time for him to be moved on.

I know we tried to sign one or two left backs in the summer, but the club really should have addressed this problem as a high proirity, it really has been very costly.

Dont think there was enough time between bookings to get the sub warmed up.:smiley-laughing002:

But izzy is the weak link in that team and he will be tested time and time again by anyone who knows it.

How many times is this leg breaking myth going to be brought up? :smiley-laughing002:

He has been brilliant plenty of times since then.

He is also still a good player who needs protected if you expect him to get up the park and support the front players. Last night before the sending off he practically had his marker in his back pocket, all because he was instructed to defend first and therefore he wasn't leaving a gaping hole when upfield.

His POTY season when he was apparently twice the player he is now he was still leaving a big gaping hole at the back when he was upfield, difference was Lenny instructed Ledley to cover for him making the space less obvious.

If Ronny wants him to attack he has to protect him and if he wants him to defend... well, for 70 minutes last night we seen what he is capable of defensively.

El Gahzi wasn't in the game. Indeed he done more falling about(including the incident that led to the 2nd yellow) than anything else for the majority. Only when he got more space did he become more prominent in the game.

I won't be joining the lynch mob. Izzaguire is the best left-back at the club and I would play him every week, ahead of Mulgrew and others.

izzy has arguably been my favourite player for us since his first season, even named my daughter isobel so i could call her izzy lol, but tonight i think he really let the team and the fans down.

he had been doing so well for the first hour and i think he even started to regain some trust from the fans who have been on his back recently, and arguably the management who seemed to be questioning his position in the starting 11.

to end his performance in that way was just so disappointing. everyone could see it coming and ive seen people even try and lay blame at ronny's feet for not taking him off, but a word from broony or another one of the players could potentially have got him back in the right frame of mind too and prevented the need to use up a substitution and let us stick to the original gameplan.

the blame for his sending off lays squarely on him, but team mates and management could have maybe have helped prevent it too.

really hope he kicks on and repays us with consistently strong performance. i still believe he's capable of it.

    * on here suggesting he tried to get sent off need to wise up

He was * stupid last night though, should have shown more experience than he did and could have cost us all three points.

Did you see the way Broonie was looking at him:smiley-laughing002:..although he has had his moments of stupidity too.

Bad mistake yes for Izzy to lunge in like he did being on a yellow especially since it was obviously El Gazei was looking to get him sent off. Having said that I though Izzy was very good up to that point and for me I would much rather him in the team then a loan player like Blackett unless that loan player is clearly a better player say like Denayer was last season ahead of Ambrose.

Although he said he caught the guy for the second yellow the replay shows he was already going down before the contact, Ajax are a very dirty team imo.
