I don’t even know what to say to that mate.

It’s a given that any comment on something like this is, by default, taken as an opinion and you said it’s just your opinion many times.

It’s fine to say your opinion on Izzy/Tierney but it’s also fine for someone to call that opinion dugshite, you don’t need to keep saying it’s an opinion as if that’s a defence.

    That’s all @MacEwan is getting at, I think. :50:

On topic, from my memory Izzy’s first season is the closest he got to Tierney’s level but he dropped off quite dramatically after that injury. Tierney is top-tier for me and the only thing stopping him getting to the very top is his injuries.

I'd personally say KT was certainly the better player all round. Easily...

Just that first season of Izzy....his skill on the ball I think is something we forget at times...he was a joy to watch beating players...didn't it also lead to utterly random rumours of Man Utd immediately being interested in him even though he'd barely arrived in Scotland at that point?

Eh? Surely the most factual thing possible about an opinion is me saying you’re bitter? It’s a fact that it’s my opinion because I’ve said it.

Former Celtic favourite Emilio Izaguirre has retired from playing and has been appointed the new sports director of homeland club Olancho FC.

The 36-year-old was released from his last club Marathon at the end of the season after a knee operation last term and studied sports management to stay in the game.

And he's moved to Juticalpa outfit Olancho FC to be their new sports director.

The left back had two spells with the Hoops and spent a total of eight years with them in total, collecting every major honour - a haul which included seven league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

He returned to his homeland three years ago with his first club Motagua, but moved to bitter rivals Marathon after a dispute with their manager.

Izaguirre - who made 269 appearances in total for Celtic and scored five goals - revealed last year that he could be a pastor when he retires from football.

But he's abandoned that plan and has joined ambitious Olancho as sports director after ending a career that started when he made his debut as a 17-year-old for Motagua in 2003 before his move to Celtic in 2010.

FORMER Celtic favourite Emilio Izaguirre has retired at the age of 36 and been appointed as sports director of his first club in Honduras.

The left back had two spells with the Hoops and spent a total of eight years with them in total, collecting every major honour - a haul that included seven league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

He returned to his homeland three years ago with his first club Motagua, but moved to bitter rivals Marathon after a dispute with their manager.

But he's now returned to Motagua to take up his first off-pitch role as a sports director.

Izaguirre studied virtually to get his certificates for the role at the Johan Cryuff Institute in Barcelona and starts immediately at the club that currently lead the Honduran league.

He said: "I am very excited and happy with this new challenge at a club that I love. We are going to work very hard to continue giving the supporters a lot of joy."

Earlier this year, Izaguirre - who made 269 appearances in total for Celtic and scored five goals - revealed he was considering becoming a pastor.

He said: "Being a pastor is a complex term because it can be misinterpreted. I want to help young people and I want to be a disciple of *

"When I was younger, I lost many friends due to violence in Honduras. You have to realise that life is short and you have to take advantage of it.

"I pray morning, afternoon and night. I thank * for everything - without him I am nothing. I have never had any desire to drink or go to nightclubs. * guided me away from that.

"I don't want to be known as someone who had a great game, I want to be known as someone who is a great person."

Izaguirre is the second former Celtic hero to retire this month after Shunsuke Nakamura finally retired at the age of 44.

Emilio Izaguirre has revealed he will set up a partnership between his former club Celtic and Honduran outfit Motagua after meeting with Hoops chiefs.

The former Celtic defender retired earlier this year after two spells with the Parkhead club where he won seven league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

He was announced as the new sports director of Motagua - his first club in Honduras.

And he's wasted little time in utilising his contacts to establish a link with the Scottish champions.

Izaguirre explained: "I have already spoken with Celtic's representatives with the aim of establishing a strategic alliance with both clubs.

Our president visits the UK a lot and will go to Glasgow soon to confirm it.

"I want to use Celtic's technical coaches, their training complex and establish an agreement that would hugely improve this club which is what we want."

Izaguirre revealed in October how taking Kieran Tierney under his wing convinced him he wanted to stay in football.

He said: "I was passionate about learning and I also remember that at Celtic they gave me three boys to train like me and eat what I ate. It was then I realised coaching wasn't for me and I wanted to do something bigger.

"In two years, I worked closely with and prepared Kieran Tierney and he was eventually sold to Arsenal for £25 million.

"That's how my desire to prepare footballers and their structure for their careers grew."
