His defensive side was really good at times you could see it from the start

At least twice in the first half I thought he had been mugged but he got back and stopped the cross.

    He was very good.

Wee man was class tonight, the big difference was he never bombed on too much, and his timing of tackling was spot on aswell

He actually brings a calmness to the team. I think he was solid tonight. More so than Tierney a few weeks back.

In my opinion, whether KT was injured or not, I wanted Izzy back in for a few games, this one included. He is calmer on the ball.

Tierney is a fantastic talent and will be our captain in a few years, but Izzy is too good to sit on the bench.

Aye both were actually in the first 10 minutes. I thought he could have done better for their goal, he wasn't aware of that BMG players behind him. But on the whole he was solid.

Ridiculous booking. Was clearly our foul, and all Izzy did was try to get the ball back as we were pressing for a win..

I'll answer your post from the bottom up.

Izzy is too good to sit on the bench agreed. He is not better than Tierney though.

I agree that Izzy should have been used more and probably would have even if KT never got injured.

He was solid tonight, he done well but he never done anyhing that KT hasn't been doing.

Agreed. When I first seen it I had my head in my hands, but after seeing the replay a few moments later realised. Like you say, ridiculous booking indeed.

Was very pleased with his performance. He seemed to be very comfortable on the ball and made at least two goal saving interceptions. For a player who's been out of the team for so long it was a very impressive display. I think it shows Brendan has them all training very well to keep them prepared for games should the chance arise.

The goal I think that's Sviatchenko's job, he ran in from behind him. He tried to pass the responsibility on for me, wrongly.

I think Izzy is maybe a bit better than Tierney when it comes to wee one-two's and build up play, but Tierney is a better defender and a much bigger threat in the final third.

Izzy has always been extremely hit and miss with his final ball. More miss than hit by some distance, actually. Whereas Tierney gets his head up and usually cuts it back and finds a Celtic player.

He's a good back up but Tierney is better.

I have a different view, for me Tierney is much better going forward and a better natural defender; but my second thought on hearing about his injury (first was obviously feeling gutted for him) was that at least (looking for silver linings) we'd be more solid in Europe.

There's a naivety still with Tierney (hardly surprising given his age) that really showed in the CL this year, for example allowing wingers to square him up. He's such a phenomenal defender that he quite literally never comes up against anyone that has the beating of him in Scotland and he can afford to always defend on the front foot. He's really only learning how to deal with that now and it will come with games, but here and now he is still naïve.

Izzy is a much less gifted defender, but he's cute as * with his body positioning, controlling his distance from a winger, little niggles and fouls, etc, etc. Of course Lustig is the absolute master at that (better than Izzy) and I hope kieran is learning from him.

When Tierney adds all that to his game, he'll be one of the best FB's in Europe.
