Pointless signing imo, not and out and out striker and not a creative midfielder the 2 positions we need strengthening the most, he is a good link-up player but isnt that Fortunes job seeing as he isnt a 20-30 goals a season forward?

Seems like West Ham are struggling to come to an agreement on wages with him. People forget that West Ham are working on a very tight budget.. I reckon they'll not be offering even half his current wage, which is 100k a week.

He's supposedly going to talk to us, West Ham and possibly a few other EPL clubs depending on how things go. Villa, Spurs, Hull and Man City are all watching closely. Man City are the only ones that will match his wages, but they don't really need him.

Read somewhere that he was on 60,000 a week at Barca, and they would be willing to pay 50% of his wages if we took him on loan for a season, (apparently because of the good bond we have with them) who knows, probably just a lot a pish

Think he would be a good signing but makes me wonder what would happen to Fortune...play a similar role.

The more I think about it if we've got the money to bring in a "superstar" like Gudjohnsen (even if only on loan) then I'd rather spend the wages on a younger, goalscoring, attacking midfielder or striker.

Wouldn't complain if it did happen though (until he has one bad game then I would obvioulsy demand his head like everyone on here tends to do :icon_lol:)

I think some are typecasting Fortune wrongly, himself and Gudjohnsen are entirely different players. Fortune is a hard working target man that drags defenders into the channels. Gudjohnsen started his career as a forward and has now evolved into an attacking midfielder with an eye for a pass.

Agree with that. If he was to sign, which i strongly doubt, i think he would play relatively deep and would be a creator for us, threading balls through etc. I think he would be an absolute gem of a signing for us in that position. An extremely gifted footballer imo.

Begs the question then, of formations, systems etc we would play.
But as i say, all hypothetical

Where are we getting this talk from. His dad (who is his agent) and Tony Mowbray have both stated that it is totally untrue and there has never been talk of it.

So unless someone knows something I dont see how this thread should continue
