Exactly, so why would the government let people use another drug irresponsibly? They wouldnt mate.

Do you think the only thing stopping everyone smoking weed is the law?

Anything to back this claim up? This did not happen in the only viable case study available - Portugal.

And there's the real issue - what constitutes responsible use? I can go out, take a pill, have a beer or two, dance all night in a club, home by 3.30, bed half 4. Up at 10.30 and besides from being a little tired, work a 12 hour shift just fine. Am I doing anything irresponsible here?

Drug testing kits are one way Marie.

Admittedly, there's not many people that will plan ahead and ensure they are taking a drug with decent purity. None of the drugs are pure but these kits can be very useful if your planning ahead for a big night out. That's why I don't agree with spur of the moment drug use.

At the moment, it's largely a trust thing, although there is an excellent site that I know called Pill Reports that I often browse. For the most part, I only ever buy pills off trusted friends who can vouch for them.

In an ideal world, you could just pop round your off-license/chemist, buy a pill and know exactly what is in it and how strong it is, with no worries over what some scum-bag dealer has cut it with.

Fair point, if every person in the country did that then there probs wouldn't be a problem, chances are the government would legalise them (the safer drugs anyway) and all's well, but unfortunately that the majority of people would abuse the drugs causing much more problems which the country doesn't need!

I firmly believe that drug abuse is the thing holding back the government from making any radical changes regarding the legalisation of some drugs. But up until that moment it is against the law, no matter how responsible you are it's illegal and I'll continue to oppose it!

so let me turn things around here ..Have you ever bought copy CDs , DVDs , Fake goods ? clothes ? footie shirts ?? we buy them because they are a lot cheaper ....Ok my point here is ..Legalise ecstasy and lets say its controlled and no one under the age of 18 is allowed to buy ..Those buying are charged £10 a pill .......The dealer down the road charges £5 a pill and doesnt ask for proof of age its cut with all sorts of * ...but people will buy off him as its cheaper ....How many people will pay The going rate of £10 ??

That's a good point as well.

I think the trustworthy people are usually the regular users, that have a regular dealer, if you know them well obviously. They would have nothing to gain by lying, unlike some of the dealers.

People with any sense. Your getting pure drugs for £10 or an unknown mix for £5.

The age is a good point but I would imagine it's the same as alcohol, if people under the age of 18 wanted it, they would wait for someone to buy it for them. Also, any dealer worth their salt would not be selling to little kids and shouldn't be trusted. Again, down to the consumers stupidity.

Another thing that puts a lot off and gives the drug trade a bad name, the dodgy dealers. That is an argument which supports your case! But where's there's drugs, there will be the dodgy dealers with it.

Well in most cases, yes. I didn't mean just weed, just was the easiest way to expand on that it best suits an argument against weed. Hard to expand on stuff when you're using a phone, waiting for your gf to finish getting her hair done.

To your point though, it is taken. I'd still stay sober no matter what is legal or illegal. I smoke cigarettes and drink on occasion but I'm able to cope with these vices not becoming problems. Pot was a big problem for me. Smoked way to much of that * and really I'm not blaming the drug, its my fault it became a problem. I guess I'm saying blame the user not the drug, but at the same time don't trust a user not to let generally harmless things like pot turn them into idiots ( going back to the point of motivation etc)

The thing is drug dealers business depends on word of mouth more than anything else, so generally if there selling dodgy * they're not getting any money.

Ever home brewed before? Most people haven't, despite it being fairly simple and incredibly cheap.

The point i was getting at as well. There will still be a lot of problems even with legalising it.

No the majority havent you cant compare that with this as you would have to wait a length of time before its ready ...Cheap ecstasy sold on the corner of a street is readily available and people will hunt the bargain

I used to smoke a lot of weed, when I was about 13 til I was around 17. I wouldn't ever say it was a problem for me (still got good grades, held a job etc) but I kind of just stopped enjoying it, so I cut down, and nowadays I usually only smoke at parties (if it's offered to me etc) and even then sometimes I'm not in the mood.

I suppose it depends on whether you believe the government have the right to regulate what you do to your own body. I don't.
