* that. I'd be more depressed if Strachan was still our manager.

Liking the manager is not important. Winning trophies is. We all love Glasgow Celtic thats the bottom line thru thick and thin but we need to be winning domestic trophies at least. Strachan won trophies irrelevant of how popular he was and thats the managers job as far as im concerned.

For me nothing much has changed ! We can't score, and yet again our defending has cost us ! Samaras is a waste of space, Fortune needs confidence. Skippy needs a decent partner ! Loovens needs a commanding, experienced CB along side him. Its such a pity BOBO was pushed out by WGS, cause i'll bet a months wages we wouldn't have lost those goals if he was CB today. Did the ref not see Loovens being held for the winner ?

I dont think we were marking zonal on the second goal, if we were then loovens certainly wasnt as he got dragged badly out of his "zone"!With the first goal you can almost see the light being switched on in caldwells face when he realises he is marking fresh air!!

2 horrendous goals to lose but it certainly was not the fault of zonal marking!!!

I think our defence problems have been well highlighted since last season, the amount of time we lost stupid goals especially to set pieces was shocking! I do blame TM because he would have known this and didn't do a thing in the summer apart from put O'dea out on loan.........

That sounds a bit like us does it not?? The huns are potentially 4 points clear of us now, either that or Dundee Utd can overtake us in the league........

Not really, the fall of Gary Caldwell began at the start of this season. Last season he was in contention for POTY. His first choice partner (I'd imagine) Glen Loovens is (and still is) a pretty solid no nonsense defender, probably about our level player. 3rd choice is our club captain who when "on form" has been another solid no nonsense defender. TM probably thought he could get that level out of Mick again. 4th choice obviously the untested Thomson.

The point is on paper there are 3 first team players there who CAN do well in the SPL. The manager simply hasn't motivated them or organised things well enough. We even had a warning before the goal, the free-header off the bar.

I've always defended the manager and tried to find positives, but TM is making things pretty indefensible.

Well ye I agree that he hasn’t organised things well enough in defence but its my opinion that we still needed another CB! I think all 3 of our CB’s lack pace and can’t cope with someone running at them! Why he let O’Dea go on loan in will never know!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I don't think O'Dea is the answer, he is probably better than what we have just now (that wouldn't be hard) but at the start of the season when he was sent out on loan (which he asked for by the way) he wasn't going to get ahead of the Caldwell Loovens partnership that looked solid towards the end of last season.

It was because of this he agreed to sign the contract extension on condition that he went out on loan to get first team football, which ironically enough he's not getting every week as he's been dropped in a few of the games due to his inconsistency.

Darren O'Dea has been getting played out of position down there in Reading at left back, that is why he sitting on the bench. It is not his fault as he is a regular centre back and better than Caldwell and McManus by a long chalk.

O'Dea is probably * off too knowing he is better than those two numpties, and that he should be playing for us just now. It is a farcical situation the board has landed us in, and it is handing the league on a plate to the Huns again.

He asked to go on loan, so how is that the boards fault?

I agree just now he's better than both, however, when he went out on loan Caldwell was player of the year, no-one could have seen just how bad he would get in such a short time.

From yesterdays showing it wasn't the centre-backs at fault, it was Mowbray - and not just with the goals. In open play Loovens and Caldwell were pretty solid..

I only listened to the game so didn't see the goals but the commentators on Channel 67 were saying Caldwell was at fault for the first goal and Samaras for the second goal.

Utd's 2nd goal was a standout ,even before the corner was taken the boy was unmarked about 7-8 yards out ,Samaras looked as if he should have been marking him but didnt and Caldwell left his man to try and get to the ball so he made an effort to get there while Samaras stood still .

I was actually looking at the keeper aswell ,both corners came from headers from 5-6yards out a good height for a keeper to attack it but that never happened either.

Well I am agreeing with both of you, mainly that it wasn't specifically the centre-backs at fault. They can share some blame for communication althoguh the majority has surely got to go to the training methods and defensive setup. Also as Kennydal says Samaras and the keeper are also culpable. That's why I'm not sure why the emphasis is on the centre-backs again who had a pretty solid game...

I wonder if Webster will be punished for the assault on Robson. Something tells me no.
