At the price of a pint in a plastic cup, not many will buy anyway and ones that do will just help give the club extra profits.

Exactly, zero self control when it comes to alcohol. Same as far too many people in Scotland.

You can drink before/afterwards, You can eat before/afterwards. I simply can not understand why people need to eat and drink when in a stadium. You sing, chant, yell...whatever. i never ever understood. For me personally it is for the ones that rather consume atmosphere than create on. I don´t queue for an expensive * poor beer and a below average Bratwurst which I can have better and cheaper outside the ground. Worst thing is popcorn..

But it should legally not be prohibited....

It should definitely be allowed. Even if it was fairly weak beer, say around 2/2.5%.

It would probably be better off trialed as season ticket holders only at first, with every beer bought needing to have their card swiped. The card would only allow 2/3 pints at most to stop people over drinking...

How so? I can choose to drink or not drink. I would choose not to. I wouldn't enjoy sitting there with a beer letting it go warm nursing it for 45min. I wouldn't enjoy having one beer then feeling tired afterwards. Id rather not be at a game and have four or five. Through the power of self control in regards to alcohol i'd say no at a game.

Don't see the big deal ffs, it's only a cupla pints you're gonna have during the game.

The notion is good - sitting in the sun wae a cold pint watching the fitba, but the time it'll take ye to get up, negotioate your way to a (probably) choc-a-block queue, pay the £4/5, head back to your seat.....* knows what fitba you've missed!

I hate going to the kiosk or the pisher during the match, can quite happily wait till i'm in the pub afterwards for a pint.

I go to the pub to watch football, I'll occassionally have a couple of beers in the house if I'm watching it on the tele... the two go hand in hand for a lot of people - like popcorn at the cinema. I don't really see the problem. If you're drinking before the game and then you stop for ninety minutes, you're probably going to be tired more than anything, so it isn't helping the atmosphere.

Also worth noting that you can drink at the football if you pay enough for your ticket. It's only the plebs who can't be trusted.

Honestly, Germany has fan culture spot on - and I know there're cultural differences but hundreds, maybe thousands, of us were over in Hamburg last year and everything went without a hitch. And there were Celtic, St Pauli, HSV, Bayern, Wolfsburg and Gladbach fans in the city at the time.

You have to trust people. I'm an *. I can have a beer without upsetting anyone anywhere else, so why not at the football.

I think you'd be surprised, once the novelty wears off. I didn't wait more than a couple of minutes in the queues at the Imtech Arena and it's not unlike Celtic Park (more like Hampden with regards to where the food and drink places are). Millerntor was much the same but it has the added advantage of having a bar in the Fanladen and folk selling bottles of Astra outside the stadium. :smiley-laughing002:

When you're in posh seats it's class going in for a pint at half time.

I don't understand people saying 'You should be able to go ninety minutes without a drink." Well, yes, you should be able to and almost every person who wants to see alcohol introduced to stadiums can. That's not the point. There's no need to drink alcohol at all. There's no need to do a lot of things but it's enjoyable for some people.

No you can't, that's my entire point. The decision has been made for you and everyone else.

    For stating a fact?

    Insightful input.

'Through the power of self control'? For *'s sake. Lighten up. It's the football, not an AA meeting. People generally drink to enjoy themselves.

But make no mistake even down to league 3/4 they have a lot of matches where you can only drink alcohol reduced or non alcoholic beer. Don´t get too carried away. its not all "great" with german grounds and football. and then 2% alcohol beer is almost as no beer at all.

And it is simply not true that it´s all fine and peaceful here. It might be that the BUNDESLIGA is presented differently in the UK but there´s some trouble even during the games. Some is drink related and some is just the usual ULTRA thing. But be assured you dont drink real beer at Köln/Gladbach, Schalke vs Dortmund or any Dresden match or plenty of Frankfurt ones. Just not the case

I think Celtic Park's calm enough and well-policed enough to have alcohol at most domestic matches - Huns, Hearts and maybe Aberdeen aside. It's mostly families.

You didn't state a fact. You said: "Exactly, zero self control when it comes to alcohol. Same as far too many people in Scotland", stating that Gundog has zero self-control when it comes to alcohol when in fact what he wrote suggests quite the opposite as he said he would choose not to drink at games than drink at his normal speed and have to go for a * all the time - therefor obviously being in control of his drinking.

You then go on to just make a blanket statement which again presents zero facts. The majority of people in Scotland don't drink Monday to Friday and when they do only have a few pints as they know they have to get up for work/uni/school in the morning therefor again demonstrating that they are in control of their drinking. On the occasions that they decide to get drunk, be it the weekend or a football game the majority of people do it in a manner which results in nothing more sinister that talking louder, chatting * and a hangover the next day.

What you said had zero facts and comes across as someone who is on his high horse and believes people need to be controlled to behave in a manner which he deems fit for his standards.

I wouldn't mind seeing it back, though I doubt I would drink at a game. As long as people don't go overboard.
