If we dont have anybody signed by the OF game which i prob wouldnt expect too i would go 4-5-1 for this.

Rangers have played that system against us numerous times and we've often been outnumbered in midfield and on the back foot constantly. This game is more imporant not too lose - rather than win IMO.

Its not my ideal team and would rather we had better quality but i'd line up like..
    Forster
    Wilson Maj Rogne Izaguarrie
    Kayal
    Forrest Brown Ledley McGinn
    Samaras

Flood the midfield - make it a battle. Forrest and McGinn can give them problems down the wings as they have the quality but i do have reservations that the Huns are just too big and strong a unit and they'll be kept out the game.

Sammy has played the lone role for Greece many times and does a job for them - he can for us.

Dont play 2 forwards - i dont think we are good enough to go their and do that ATM unfortunatly.

Form goes right out the window with OF games, if every player that goes out in Hoops that day shows up and gives their all then we'll go away with something... :shamrock:... Gutted that Hooper is going to miss out, he's one that could have caused the Rangers backline real problems... Midfield battle is the key... we need to be strong in there!

I disagree about your form point. Rangers have been better this season and should and will be considered favourites.

Scott Brown is an important player for this game IMO. His bite and tenacity will at the very least match their's. We'll need a few big performances to get a result IMO.

This article is of the xmas OF game 2 years ago. It and the league cup final were the last time a Celtic manager knew how to beat Wattie. Its just a terrible shame we blew the title later that year.

Rangers 0 Celtic 1: The fourth is in sight with winning Strachan | Mail Online

I have started a thread on this game because it shows how to beat Rangers at Ibrox. Play them at their own game but with better players. That day we had Broony, Robson and Hartley all in the CM.

Come on bhoys BELEIVE we can beat them with a leader like Brown he looked gd last nite, with Kayal to pass about midfield and Forrest burning there fullbacks and hopefully some Derry Pele magic! Stokesy banging them in, and big Dan and Thomo need to sort it out we will learn from our mistakes and have some time to prepare. Cmon Celtic we can do this who's with me!!!

    Rangers v Celtic Jan 2nd 2011.
This game is no problem in regards to any nervous feeling for me, Rangers will be favourites and rightly so, yes our defense is poor to say the least, but its not that long ago we had a SIEVE of a defense, statistics show that its not that way but neverless its poor, which does includes a rookie goalie, and I will it leave that about the goalie.
Its often said defense starts at the front, and with the present Celtic that certainly is part of the problem in results, its been good that Celtic have created many chances this season but to very little avail excluding a couple of games.
Some fan mentioned in a forum, we could get lucky or win in some magical way, well for me there is only one guy that can produce magic during a given game and thats Paddy McCourt, will he be giving the opportunity and if he is, will it happen?
Cannae wait, bring it on! :84:

Inconsistency has been the only consistent this season. Take Utrecht for example. Looked brilliant for 70 mins at home, then turned in the worst Celtic performance I have seen in 32 years over there. In the recent 3 home games again periods of really good play have been littered with poor passing and shocking defending. Poor Forrest looked shocking but he is just back from injury. Last night they seemed to be so desperate to do things right that they were making mistakes by trying too hard. So in terms of the old firm game who knows what performance we are going to come up with. Look at Kayal and Juarez, their performances have ranged from brilliant to shocking. It may be that on the day they really perform. If we take the lead I think we will be prepared mentally after the last time but it is the lack of pace at the back which worries me. Plus Cha is not * enough.
Conclusion, Ithink if we played the match 10 times we would win 3, with 2 draws and 5 defeats. So we have a chance IMO

That Cup Final - although we won was one of the worst OF games ive seen for general play.
That seemed to be a feature of WGS's reign here against Rangers. Games were * quality wise but we got the job done more often than not. Which at the end of the day - only matters.

We really did throw that title away in his last year here - if i remember correctly we only had to beat the 2 edinburger teams and that was us - we couldn't even score a goal in they 2 games.

although our form atm has been pretty dire, we are talking about an old firm derby at ibrox, anything can happen.

Basing this on our defence and attack yesterday, we're * and now Hooper's out a draw looks unlikely, but if we get a good chance then you never know, there's 2 games to sort this mess of a defence out and should that happen, the entire scenario is completely different
