We will never know until he has a decent run of games under his belt for us.

Like I said earlier, he has played 3......THREE competitive games for us.

How the * are we ever going to know unless we give him time?

I think Gordons shot stopping ability is far better. He would have made a better attempt at blocking Neymars free kick and Suarez's chest and turn goal.

I've not been overly impressed by De Vries so far.

He may come good for us, but i can only give an opinion based on what i've seen so far, and for me he hasn't been very impressive tbh.

I think Gordon would have saved at least 2 of the 7. At least he has experience of playing in big matches. De Vries looked like a fish out the water.

I don't even think Gordon was bad in Israel, nothing he could have done about the 1st and I still blame Janko for the 2nd. He did save a penalty and made a few solid stops at 2-0 under severe pressure. He didn't deserve to be dropped for this guy.

It was quite often the big games when Gordon made his mistakes to be fair.

At least 2 of the 7? I think you're being a bit overly positive there in regards to Gordon.

That was Barcelona we were playing last night, and as far as I'm concerned the 7 goals they scored were of their own doing, not of ours.

Gordon got done in Isreal from close range at his near post against Be'er Sheeva from a player not even on the level of Messi or Suarez' left toe, so I don't see how even he would have been able to shut out any of the world class front 3.

Gordon's career ambition was to play in the Champions League. He finally got us there and was immediately dropped for a guy who's been playing in the 2nd & 3rd tier in England for the last decade. He should rightly feel aggrieved.

So far he's shown why no top flight club were interested in him, he looks so average. I want Gordon back ASAP.

Gordon made a lot of big saves for us in Europe as well though.

That night at home against Inter was his Efe Ambrose's Juventus. Then again, he picked himself up and had a terrific game at the San Siro.

He has been below par for a while but I believe he is a very good shot stopper and has pulled off some brilliant saves for us.

His career here isn't and shouldn't be over, IMO. Not yet.

I couldn't really care less if it was his career ambition or not, he was dropped for making too many cost mistakes, that's football. He saved the penalty in Israel, but he was also at fault for their second goal, arguably should have stopped their first as well, and not for the first time got beat at his near post in the home game against Be'er Sheva. He wasn't blameless in either of the goals we conceded against Astana either over both legs.

I'm not convinced by De Vries either, but Gordon was dropped for his mistakes, he can't feel aggrieved at that.

He's looked like a duck out of water in his matches so far.

Likes to stare the ball out as it coasts over him. It's almost like he believes his telekinetic powers will stop the ball.

Some players you take to quickly and some you don't. I appreciate some guys need more than a handful of games to bed in but this guy just gives me bad ju-ju.

Competition is a good thing. Hopefully this spurs Gordon on to get back to the type of form he showed in his first season here as we badly need a trustworthy keeper.

Title of the thread "Welcome to Celtic Dorus De Vries"

3 games later (one of which was against the best team on the planet), get rid of him he's *.

A keeper situation is a bit different to a striker regarding Dembele, I think most could see he was just choking for a goal.

Aye Gordon's form took a massive dip and I said back then he is a good keeper but was suffering from a major lack of competition.

As Before, I don't see at the moment that he is any better than Gordon, we know Gordon has it in him.

But I do get what your saying you can't really judge him against Barca as with most of the players but something about him just doesn't fill me with any confidence.

    Hope I'm wrong.

I was abut worried when we bought him people were just talking about his passing ability rather than his shot stopping ability. Can understand why now.

On the evidence so far, which is all we can go on atm, would you say he was a better option than Gordon ?

People who think he is as good or better than Gordon need their heads checked.

Gordons kicking is not as * as this guys shot stopping ability - assuming that he has any because i have failed to see any real evidence of it thus far.

Yes it has been 3 games and he has conceded 9 goals, and has not made a significant number of saves or commanded his box or his defence with any kind of authoriy and he is 35 ffs not 19.

Seriously not impressed and looks like a 3rd choice keeper
