We can't do all that hard work and pressing to finally get the ball in our possession pass it back and allow Gordon to just punt it aimlessly up the park and loose possession again. That's why he's dropped. Fix that he'll be back in.

People saying he did fine, people saying he had very little to do, people saying he made a few mistakes and had a below average game... maybe they all coincide with each other... Seems a risk to put him in against the huns if he had very little to do but made a few mistakes here and there with him looking shaky and nervous throughout.

Didn't see the game so I can't comment, all I can do is trust Brendan now.

How is it a risk to play De Vries? It's * suicide at this stage to play Gordon.

Saving wise apart from their goal I dont think he had to make a save? cant mind one anyway.

Kicking, he played that slack dodgy pass to Toure when Tierney was open at right-back, dont know why he done that trying to be too smart?

Long balls were excellent I thought though, every one kept on the park most finding Celtic players, were quite a few good ones to Lustig at the half way line who won flick ons then when Dembele came on ones to him. Far better than Gordon whos kicking was awful, half went out the park and 40% of the rest went nowhere.

He had more of the ball than I can ever remember one of our keepers having and he made one bad pass. I think the slack pass just stuck in people's minds and they wrote him off.

Good finish for the Rooney goal and he barely had another save to make so not much to judge his goalkeeping ability on.

    Precisely.

We've got two decent, experienced options to choose from between the sticks and, in an ideal world, the competition will push them both to be better - even in their mid 30's.

Neither is the long-term option, but they are both pretty good stop-gaps until we can (hopefully) unearth another 'keeper of Boruc/Forster type calibre.

That's exactly the way I see this: till we get another good keeper with years in him, this is it for a while

How did the lad play yesterday?

We aren't dealing with 25 year old keepers here. These are both experienced, veteran keepers who have been dealing with pressure for the better part of 15 years. Both will be ready to be called on next week. By Rodgers' postgame comments on De Vries, I'd say he'll be starting once again.

Apart from that one terrible pass he had * all to do the whole game. Wasn't at fault for the goal, that was down to defenders ball watching. Really can't judge him on yesterdays game.

I think we're fortunate to be in a "you score four, we'll score five" situation tbh.

In his best form for years right now. I'm sure he would have jumped at the chance of Champions League football and to get it up the Zombies.

We've got to stop letting the fact that we had two sensational goalkeepers in quick succession poison our opinions on new keepers, though. Yes, both Boruc (in his prime) and Forster would have saved that, but we can't afford a keeper of that quality in the short term.

De Vries will have to do for now.

he was quite poor in his last 18 months after his bird left him, not the keeper we had in the beginning by a long shot

De Vries didnt cost us anything in terms of goals but was very shaky and didnt inspire confidence...

Imagine Gordon will get another shot at it.

Don't think so. He signed a new contract to play in EPL for another year rather than 6 CL games and likes of ICT x4 a year.
