Craig Gordon's a better goalkeeper than this guy. I think signing this guy is a shot across Gordon's bow, a way of letting him know if he doesn't sort himself out he'll be sitting on the bench or maybe even looking for a new club. I'm not totally convinced that's the best way to rebuild a goalkeeper's fragile confidence but it might work.

I think this is probably Craig Gordon's last season at Celtic anyway. Brendan Rodgers likes to have a goalkeeper who is good with the ball at his feet and who can recycle possession at the back. That is without doubt the worst part of Craig Gordon's game, he is hopeless with the ball at his feet. So it would appear to me that Gordon won't have a long term future under Brendan Rodgers.

Very similar to the Man City/Hart situation.

As much as I agree with having a GK that fits the style of play, I'd still rather have a better GK over an inferior one that is good with his feet. Has to be the right balance.

Although Claudio Bravo is a better keeper than Joe Hart

Don't buy in to that at all. De Vries is here to be number 1, the sounds Rodgers has made about him all point to that.

Time will tell who the better goalkeeper is.

I'm almost certain it isn't the current iteration of Craig Gordon.

Difference being the whole footballing keeper thing is a bit of a smoke screen for the Hart situation because, the reality is, he's the most over rated goalkeeper in the history of goalkeeping. A highlight reel of show stopping saves and massive blunders in equal measure.

Not sure the Caballero or Bravo are better, to be honest. Just better with the ball at their feet, which is my point.

    Cabaellero isn't, think he's a donkey personally.

    Bravo is.

I agree. How good he is with the ball at his feet is well down the list of things I look for in a goalkeeper.

This guy will probably be a stop gap signing for a season or two max, depending on how well he does for us.

He's gonna get a chance soon. Gordon's lapses are becoming an epidemic now.

Typical Gordon drops two howlers and one brilliant save .
His time here must be up by now ?

I wouldn't be against him never starting for us again at this point, if De Vries is decent

Aye, hoping he can continue his good form with us. Gordon is dodgy as * and I don't trust him in goal in Europe

I doubt he will be getting beat at his near post like Craigy has in Europe

Anyone else think he'll be in goal for the away leg? Or maybe a bit too soon for him?
