Regressed from Forster? Of course. We sold Forster for £10m and we do not have those kind of funds to sign a replacement. If Brendan didn't think Dorus was better than Gordon we wouldn't have signed him.

    Daibhi is Hugh Keevins.

I don't know what's worse, that Celtic signed an unknown 35 year old or that they ignored proven Scottish talent like Grant Adam. :smiley-laughing002:

Looks like De Beast could give Gordon a lesson on how to save a penalty..

You honestly believe that £10m wouldn't get us a replacement for Forster? Thats astonishing by the way. Not surprising really.

I agree with you that Brendan would be thinking right now that Dorus is better than Gordon and thats why hes got him in. Now that doesn't make his judgement to be right does it? We have to see if his signing is worth the investment and I hope it is but as I have stated here many times before I wont be surprised if he is inconsistent.

    *awaits an ad hominem*

Where did he say that 10 million wouldn't get a replacement for Forster?

He stated that we do not have the funds to replace FF. With the £10m we got for him I fully believe we would get a replacement. Don't know why you're asking that.

What the * is wrong with you? :smiley-laughing002:

The irony of your final line must be lost on you considering you've attempted to attack me personally twice in that post.

Let's break this down simply for you.

    - I never said £10m wouldn't buy us a good replacement for Forster. I said we don't have the funds to spend that kind of money on a replacement. Our record signing is £6m and has been for over 10 years.
    - I never denied that De Vries may not be better than Gordon

This guy hasn't even had the chance to put his boots on at Lennoxtown yet, give him a chance, don't be ageist and don't use his small transfer fee against him. He might be great for us, he might be *. We'll find out.

I don't care about this guys age in the slightest but having just watched a good few videos of him in action I don't see him coming in and instantly replacing Gordon. He looks a good shot stopper as is Gordon but what I did notice is that he rebounds a lot of shots out into the path of oncoming players... much like Gordon and there is no sign of him coming off his line frequently either... much like Gordon. I'm anticipating with all the chat that he is very very good with the ball at his feet but little footage of this online. Should certainly be the best 1-2 combination of keepers we have had in some time though :)

If he's on par with everything but better than Gordon with his feet surely he goes straight in at number 1.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say he will be better than Gordon, (hardly sticking my neck out that far mind you).

He may well do if there is a significant difference in this area but I don't see Stevie Woods or Rodgers being that hasty. I see this as a kick up the * for Gordon to work hard on aspects of his game because on his day he is a world class keeper. I think the two working together with Woods on a daily basis can only be good. Just look at how Big Fraser improved over a period especially in his kicking, coming for crosses and distribution. I think Gordon needs someone pushing him, up until this moment he has known that he is a stick on for the number 1 shirt, regardless of errors and has maybe become complacent.

A lot of people wanted a replacement for Gordon but not necessarily with somebody who, on paper, looks strikingly average, is now at the tail end of his career and has spent a sizable amount of his career playing second fiddle to other Championship keepers. Obviously I will wait and see if he is any good and I'm not knocking the guy just yet, but I think fans are right to question this transfer, mainly because if he does turn out to be dross then I doubt we'll be getting another in anytime soon and to many fans dismay Gordon will still be our #1.

    We'll wait and see.

We spent £2m on Forster. That's £2m on a highly rated and young keeper. I don't think he meant spending £10m on the next keeper, but spending a similar amount on what we spent on Forster as a replacement.

I think we're seeing that getting guy's like Forster for 2 mill, are the exception, not the rule..
