Nah, i think the fact we payed that and it’s failed massively means we wouldn’t be paying big money for a keeper again.

Livakovic was 2nd best goalie of the tournament at WC 2022 and Croatia No 1. Worth a punt at 8m.

We've had the same kind of failure with Ajeti. IMO, goalkeepers are more important than strikers (anyone can score but only goalies save the team when defenders slip up), and good ones are harder to find. Spending massive money on a GK should not be unthinkable.

A journalist in Turkey has stirred the pot by claiming that Celtic are still very much in the race for the talented goalkeeper.

What was assumed to be a done deal for Fenerbahçe now appears less certain, as the Turkish club continues to keep their options open, assessing other goalkeeping talent in the market.

    Don't know what to believe.

If we were ever really interested in signing him then we've done very poorly by allowing it to get this far. So "hijacking" the deal now would actually be an indication of incompetence in the first instance.

On the other hand, perhaps we were never serious as we couldn't match the wages and the reports from Croatia are just journos throwing our name into the mix with no substance behind it. Perhaps his agent is * with the failure to get it over the line and has dropped our name to a few journos as a kind of bargaining ploy with Fenerbache.

    I think this seems likely.

We’ve probably made an offer of sorts but not as good as the Turks. If the Turks falls through maybe it would be us but we might be beaten fair and square.

Likely the agent, some journalists or Zagreb is now stirring the pot a bit to make sure things get moving.

He wouldn't need to drop any names when a Saudi club is very likely interested in Livaković- the same one that bought Brozović. That being said, Celtic's interest is barely being mentioned in Croatian media, despite these Turkish sources claiming we're still in the race. Might be an indicator Dinamo have not received any bid from us.

Nope. Even some of their media admit there's not been an agreement with Dinamo regarding the transfer fee.

While Fenerbahçe was close to ending negotiations with Dinamo Zagreb, a club from Arabia made an offer to Livakovic's representative by paying the 10 Million Euro release fee directly, without negotiating with the club. The commission was high. More is coming...

Celtic, who was excluded from the transfer, took advantage of this and made a new offer. As I said from the beginning, Livakovic is committed to his club and wants the best for Dinamo Zagreb. Currently, the club is trying to make more money by painting the image of "we won't sell if necessary".

Just doubt there's anything in this at all. All getting played out too publicly.

That's Turkish media in general tbh. I doubt we get him either, but anywhere else and I think this is kept under wraps a lot better.

It's just Livakovic agent playing poker with Fenerbahce to push up his wages and sign on fee. We're just a card on the hand, not a actual player sitting around the table.

Was the wages he was offered not around the 45-50k mark? I dont see us paying those wages for a goalkeeper

Supposedly they'll leave the table if Livakovic doesn't make a decision soon.
