This came as a surprise. Hopefully the guy is ok. It wouldn't surprise me if he was being blocked from doing what he wanted to do and thought he was wasting his time, but that is idle speculation.

I don't know why people are mentioning Strachan as a replacement, he has zero qualifications to be a chief exec as the role is completely different from that of a director of football that he has been linked with previously.

 

Would like to see if Alan Burrows of Motherwell fancies taking the job

 

If he's binned his twitter I'd be inclined to think it is serious personal/health reasons he's going and wants to keep his privacy, rather than some conspiracy of our board to oust him after a few short months in the job.

The statement is pretty short regarding the departure.. 2 lines or so….. whereas the rest is spout about the new guy filling in…. Not much of a “thank you.”

… don’t want to speculate too much but it smells like it’s the job that was the issue to me. Any other reason you’d just step aside, take a break, sick leave etc..

Either way I wouldn’t be surprised if DD junior is eased into things somehow.

 

Hope the guy is OK if there are health reasons. Same if it's anything family related.

It would not surprise me one bit if the reason he's gone is due to being undermined in his role and Lawwell and Wankier don't like his forward thinking.

People going on about the statement being short... If its 'Personal Reasons' then so it * should. You expecting a big explanation on someones possible health decline or family issues

The cold statement from Celtic would suggest it’s not a genuine health concern or anything like that.

If it was health-related he’d surely just go on leave.

It’s going to be speculation City but usually they use words to the effect of “we would ask you to respect (his) privacy at this time” if it was illness?

Maybe not though.

However, I wish him all the very best and really hope he is okay health wise.
