I think people just select certain areas of quotes then jump on them to mean other things, the whole premise of that speech there by Dom was about being best in class in each area of the club, of looking at other organisations similar in operation wether it’s football club a rugby club or any sports club that has a similar operation, he then used clubs (Brentford being one) to demonstrate that they have a best practice that we could follow it might just be one they did buy Ivan Toney when we had the chance a blew it, it doesn’t say they are bigger or better than us just that they have some elements of their business we should be looking at and copy or take and make better it’s a standard business practice. It used to be called best practice or change management now it’s best in class or maybe we’re entering Cruffs as it’s another cup we can win trying for a quadruple, quadruple

New Celtic Chief Executive Dominic McKay today thanked fans for the welcome he has received and for the overwhelming level of support for the Club, as he officially takes up his new role.

As Celtic builds for the future, the club is delighted to report that, once again, we have the highest number of season ticket holders in the country.

Dom has been undertaking a period of handover and transition across the past few weeks and from today, 1st July, formally takes up the role of Chief Executive.

Dom said: “Today I formally take up my role as Chief Executive of Celtic Football Club and I want to thank all our supporters for the very warm welcome I have received so far.

“I want once again to thank Peter Lawwell for all he has done for the Club over such a long period of service and for the great support he has given myself in recent weeks.

'I also want to take this opportunity to personally thank so many supporters for joining us again for the coming year by renewing Season Tickets for 2021/22. The response has been incredible and provides an excellent foundation upon which Ange and I can build.'

“Last Friday saw the most season tickets ever sold by the Club in one day, in our entire history. We have recorded a fantastic level of interest in our season ticket renewals, and yet again we have the highest number of season ticket holders in the country backing the team for the season ahead, a phenomenal figure which is quickly approaching sell-out.

“We are all very much looking forward to welcoming our supporters back to Celtic Park very soon, and I’m encouraged by the recent Government guidance that indicates a possible return of fans to football in the coming few weeks. We will, of course, keep all our supporters updated as we get information from the Government and relevant authorities.

“The positive impact of having our supporters back at Celtic Park cannot be underestimated as we look to a new era, with our focus firmly set on a return to winning ways.

“We are about to embark on a new campaign both domestically and in Europe, and I’m really excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we look to deliver the success that your incredible support so greatly deserves.

“I truly believe that in the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as manager, we can all look forward to entertaining and, more importantly, winning football in the seasons ahead and I look forward to sharing these moments with you all at Celtic Park.

“Once again I thank each and every supporter for such a warm welcome, for your unwavering support and for your continued commitment to Celtic Football Club."

I watched the fan media conference in full yesterday.

For most of his answers, it was pure business answers with buzzwords and repetition of certain "keywords", such as the use of "World Class" on a fair few occasions.

What was missing from this was any detail or even a hint of how the process will work? Just a standard we are looking into every aspect of the club. But given the previous statements from the board, I would assume Dom will have an easy time seeing as we were "a modern and progressive club within European football".:97::97:

Obviously, It's very early days in his role, while he only officially started today. He has been in and around the club in for a few months now. We have urgent issues within the playing squad and little to no movement has been seen on this front. And 20 days away from the first Champs League Qualifier.

Day one, all on you now Dom!

Got high hopes and he has made some high (vague) promises to the fans and the new manager in supporting the playing squad, the backroom departments, the whole infrastructure and overall communication/engagement.

Time will tell how this all pans out, we give him time to make his own mark now.

Jesus, if I'd been judged on every job I've had by my first day, I'm not sure I'd have made it to a second.

Surely too early to judge, the first chance we have to judge him will be September once the transfer window closes

It's the bigger picture that concerns me, particularly after the shambles of last season.

I have faith in Mckay in the long run but he’s not off to a great start imo, one of his first decisions was to sanction contract extensions on Griff and Ralston which was foolish, i knew Griff would throw it back in our face but I didn’t expect it to be as soon as that. Now he needs to be a real leader and get him out the club.

And hurry up and sign some first team players, getting fed up with being linked with some * everyday then nothing.

    It's all perspective...

If we went to CL qualifiers and had no striker he'd be told he took an unnecessary risk releasing Griffiths. Griffiths should absolutely be gone now, though.

Signing decent youth for low cost from down south isn't a bad thing.

JK and Strachan as much as people hate them will still have knowledge that is useful to be transferred to a manager completely new to his environment.

Honestly I don't blame the board/Dom for extending these two contracts, it makes decent sense considering the predicament we are in.

It is the complete lack of other signings to bolster the starting 11 and make the squad ready for competitive football, the complete lack of leadership in helping the manager and complete inability to do anything different to the last * in charge.

The only thing Dom has done better/different so far is decent engagement, which is a nice start - but at this point I feel let down by everything else and it all seems to be stuff we will do later, with no short term help to Ange or the players.

I basically don't know how good they are or not. I do know the previous manager was absolutely not up to the job.

I agree on the fan engagement, its a breath of fresh air.

On the Griffiths matter though it feels like the lazy option rather than going out and recruiting someone fit for purpose.

The transfer window has been opened for almost 1 month now, if the best striker we can get is Griffiths in that time then I don’t think its good enough.

Oh for sure, both Griff and Ralston is a lazy option, 100%. I just not going to be too harsh on Ange or Dom for taking it at this stage.

The club itself though should have had a RB lined up months ago.
They also should have had a manager lined up 8 months ago as well, but we all know how that works out (again no dig at Ange, I feel we all need to confirm that at every post before some Aussie * his knickers in offence).

We’ve been linked to 2 RB’s so far, but one has to wonder if either were obtainable??? Baldock and Rossier seem like they both cost a fair bit, for the laters price, surely we canvassed his manager to see if he was interested?

That seems like our taste was too expensive and the players didn’t want to come anyway? Back room staff are dreaming.

He’s been heralded for his smooth press conferences and sound bites to date. He’s also being heralded for being keen to engage will the independent fan media and the fans in general.

In my opinion, it’s pretty clear that McKay is trying to control the narrative of independent fan media, similar to how they control the MSM drip feeding rags like the DR and the s*n exclusives.

The two red flags for me:

    1) the separate independent/fan media session on the day of Ange’s unveiling. None of those invited were allowed to record their own audio. The session played out and was recorded by the club. The club then took this away, reviewed/edited it, before issuing it to everyone in attendance.

    2) Quotes from some no mark Australian podcast appear on twitter, with claims that Ange has had Kennedy and Strachan imposed on him. The quotes starts to gain some traction in Celtic twitter circles. Bing. All of the independent/fan media outlets suddenly receive a communication from the club telling them that the claims (from a random podcast in Australia) are in fact false. McKay is extremely keen to control the narrative, again.

IMO, quotes from a coach on a random Australian podcast carry as much clout as the official party line being rolled out by the club.

Hold any fan media/podcasts that you engage with to account. McKay’s plan seems to be to engage and to open the door for them. In the hope that they too will take the soup.

By the looks of it the thumb has made a ducking show of himself and the club now. And he has a new one year deal.

We should have signed someone by now, there is absolutely no excuse not to have signed players.
