I'm interested to know what ambition Celtic should be aiming for here? If the board are showing a lack of it by looking at a number of highly thought of up and coming managers then I'm confused.

Surely Celtic's ambition is to win the league as often as possible, or deep down inside do some Celtic supporters think because we won the european cup 40 years ago we should still be pushing for it?

Should celtic's ambition be to build an amazing team, paying for it with money we don't have?

Our board are * scared of getting into the condition the huns are in,so do the due diligence thing in everything from buying tea bags to signing strikers.
It fecks us all off, when all we want to see is a promising sign for the future, they think being better than the huns is good enough where as we see being competitive in the latter stages of CL as being good enough and the sad thing is that is that while the board behave in this way the Celtic fans will continue to skip the Motherwell,Dundee, Kilmarnock games in greater numbers and we'll have half filled stadiums again.were as all they have to do is show some balls,Im not saying go daft and sign a 30 million pound striker but we should be looking at players who'll score goals in the 6/10 million brackets,we are Celtic, one of the greatest football clubs in the world we deserve to be entertained to a very high level

The board have no ambition. They are businessmen who only care about the balance sheet. Our dreams don't matter to them. They want us to be in the black more than they want us to win in the sport we compete in. We are only consumers now!

What would you suggest the board do?

If you have 2mil to spent how can you afford 10mil?

Another dillusional fan. We aren't as big these days are we have been, Celtic made it's name in the 60's last time I checked it was 2009.

I think the board has done a great job in ensuring that we are one of the best run clubs in Europe.

I'm not surprised at the managers we have been linked with and didn't expect us to be going after top names.

I don't expect us to be challenging for the CL.

I don't expect us to spend money we don't have.

However I do expect us to be the best that we CAN be, not just the best that we NEED to be - that is where the lack of ambition comes in.

To me this lack of ambition was shown in January when we did not strengthen it was as though the board were saying, sure we're 7 points clear what do we need to strengthen for? This may not be the case, and they may have been looking for players to improve the squad and just couldn't get what they were after, but somehow I think it's more likely they were satisfied with being ahead of rangers.

I also think a lot of fans are unrealistic when they consider who we should be getting in.

I think thats a valid and well constructed arguement, I think in January however the board did try to strengthen, but were priced out of the market, or felt they were being quoted stupid money for players. We all know that we tried to sign Fletcher in January, but hibs wants close to £4mil.

I also think the board had an idea that WGS wanted to move on, so no point spending money on players who might be getting shipped out 6 months later, and to be fair the position we were in at that stage, most people thought we could only throw the league away, which we did.

Celtic have an amazing global fanbase
We could and should have 60,000 fans every other week at CP
In this decade( and 2009 is still in this decade),we have played and beaten some of the finest names in European football,I won't state them because you know who they are.
Celtic have the potential to become the worlds no 1 club
Lawwell and DD are not inventive enough,do they question themselves ? can they do more ? No 1 priority is getting out of the SPL it has way way outgrown us and thats part of the frustration,England(even the Blue Square if it gets us moving in the right direction) or Euro league its all good, but they need to show balls and get us moving,I will never accept Celtic accepting second best or mediocracy we are Celtic and thats not on.

I think it's being realistic, and we have no-one to blame but Lex Gold. The SPL had a cracking contract with Sky, which helped us get decent players and Martin O'Neill. Then the stupid * said that SPL TV would generate more money, which it didn't. He than had to Pimp the SPL to the Beeb, and now to Setanta.

There is no point in aiming for a managaer like Moyes or Keane. Would cost too much to get them out their contracts, which would then cripple the transfer budget and we'd be left with Samaras up front.

Roberto Martinez would be a decent shout, as his contacts would help us get a half decent player.

Remember. Wim Jansen and Dr Jozef Venglos were unknowns to us, and through their contacts we got Larsson and Lubo.

As for fans wanting a 'celtic minded' manager. would you settle for a celtic minded man who wins the odd trophy here and there, or a manager with no connection to the club, that can get the title back???

True, but each year we are promised more for our money but nothing materialises.
It's gona drive ppl away if the promises from the board don't happen coz it's been the last few years now. I personally won't give up my season ticket but ther are alot of ppl not gona renew thers.
