Gonna try and give Spanish a go after May. Crackin' language and opens the door to a lot of places.

Im trying to learn Spanish by myself. Last week I noticed on the channel Euronews you can change the language to spanish or others, now when im on here I put it on in the background and try and work out what they're talking about and just to get used to listening to spanish voices speaking.

Tried listening to a South American news station a few days ago. Couldn't make out a word :smiley-laughing002: it all just flows together with hardly any breaks.

Aye they seem to talk fast as *, can make most things out though as by now I know a lot of words but can never make out whole sentances as it moves too quick but can still get what theyre talking about by the odd words i pick up.

I'm thinking about taking a class over the summer in Glasgow. Lorca Spanish full immersion. Only way I'll learn is if I'm forced, can't pick it up from books alone.

I havent even looked at a book.

I just write down and translate words and sentances and test myself on them and translate as many words as I can and read though them. Im probably doing it backwards by learning loads of individual words.

I can actually read really good now but cant speak it very well, I just know a lot of basic sentances like saying who I am or asking where places are but couldnt actually go up and talk to someone about random stuff like the news.

Might look at a few books though to see what theyre like as it would help.

I will eventually need to take classes or move to spain to get good at speaking it though as its just not possible on your own.

Learning a language out of a book is futile in my opinion.

That why those books are, for learning so i disagree.
Books are very helpful. Most important is a passion to learn, if you really want to learn then you can find many sources to get a knowledge from.Books, programs, tv courses.Web is full of stuff
