The main stand doesn't receive communion on a Sunday, so we can't be a Catholic club mate :giggle1:

    Only in Scotland....

I have a season ticket for Bath Rugby and know all the players in the team. I couldn't tell you the religion of a single one of them - past or present.

I don't consider Celtic to be a catholic club - but I wouldn't care anyway.

Spot on. And as someone who was born and raised in the Church of England, I'm very glad that I can be part of the Celtic family.

Just because the club was founded by a catholic doesn't make it a catholic club, it was set up for the less fortunate in the East end of Glasgow and grew into something much bigger. We are all proud of the heritage of this club, its one of the readons we have a world wide support.

Unlike other clubs we have always been open for anyone no matter race or religion, its the gift of giving our club was founded on.
Its not as straight forward as no but that's how I voted.

Absolutely not and never had been. There are some knuckledraggers who like to think so but celtic is not and has never neen a Catholic club. If it identified itself as such I would probably not be a fan

I'd also say that Celtic as a fan base don't have any particularly defined political leanings. The green brigade claim to be left wing buy at the same time sing songs in remembrance of fascists. You can also see Vatican flags next to Che Guevara flags so I'd say celtic is a club that attracts all sorts.

No. It is a very outdated notion that a football team can be "catholic"

Why would someone be a knuckledragger if they associated Celtic with Catholicism?

What in gods name are you slabbering about?

May be playing devils advocate here, but you could argue the Catholic Church's charitable works as a whole isn't limited to just Catholics, so neither would a Catholic football team. There's a difference between being a Catholic club and being a club for Catholics. There's nothing inherently exclusionary about being Catholic.

No. Its just the religion the majority of out fans were brought up in.
