Excellent post, just about sums it up for me. Football has always played a massive part in my life and, whilst always second to the health and wellbeing of family and friends, the scorelines definitely affect my general mood. For a variety of reasons, (financial, family, played on a Sunday at the time when games were on Saturdays etc) I was at my Celtic supporting peak, in terms of attending home and away matches, during the dark days of the early 90's. I used to take defeats very badly, and suffered greatly, as we all did, during the huns domination.

Now I think I have things more in perspective - I have 4 young children, so they are my priority. However I still hate it when we suffer a bad result, especially in games we should have won, like so many this season. Watching a skint, boring, depressing huns team win the league last season really upset me, as does the prospect of it happening again. I sometimes wonder what am inflicting upon my wee bhoys, but then I think of the good times we have had and realise that it is all worthwhile when it works out well.

Of course we feel emotion thats what being a fan of our great club is all about, its about experiencing the highs and lows. I for one love supporting our great club and this is the difference between us and the scum we know how to enjoy the highs and lows our club put us through every year.

Nevermind showing it to them, should show it to some of the players and hopefully that'll make them get their finger out and realise what an effect their * performances has on us all.

I'm probably one of the oldest posters on here, and I can tell you it doesn't get any easier with age, it still hurts like * when it goes belly up on the day. I still find myself spending another couple of hours in the pub after the game to allow my temperment to cool down before heading home to the family. However I have never reached the point that some of the inbreds across the city have when things go wrong for them. Does anyone else on the forum ( old timers) remember the press reports the morning after we won the big cup, Rangers supporters commit suicide,I kid you not.this led to the ditty being sung at Celtic Park "Oh theyr'e jumpin oot their windaes when we win" as to the tune of "she'll be coming round the mountain".
Those were the glory days and I know I'm priveleged to have been part of them.

It makes me depressed when we lose so I just do what I always do when I get depressed, lose myself in alcohol and sleep for 12 hours then eat a huge breakfast the next morning, it always cheers me up :icon_mrgreen:

    Very much so.

Losings is absolutely gutting in crucial matches. Losing fills me with frustration at times, especially if we've been the better team, like on more than once occasion this season. I will admit, a Celtic match has reduced me to tears on one occasion - football is much more than a game if you have true passion for a football club.

Then there's the other side of it, winning important matches (Old Firms,Europe,Finals, etc) or matches when we're complete under-dogs -nothing feels better than Celtic punching above their weight in Europe.

However as Minty says, I also regard things more importantly then football. Family and friends being just two of them.

    Definitely effects people emotionally.

yes definitely, fir park in 2005 was probably the most painful moments of being a celtic fan in my life can remember crying alot that day and not going out for days even though i was only 10 at the time, after getting beat of the huns it can make me angry and depressed can't take the slagging for it I will probably end up wanting to fight huns that want to wind me up about it. the huns away this year was the last time i got really raging about it was punching f**k out of my floor and shouting and greeting at the same time ma pals were lookin at me abslolutely shocked, was ragin seeing them huns winning and just couldnt face the thought of them beating us. to get over a defeat from the huns or other teams i usually just blank all huns for a few days and basically hide from them but still cant hide the pain from it. lets hope we beat the huns on sunday then to avoid a depressing wake up on monday.
