Desmond has already invested an absolute fortune in Celtic and all he gets is abuse to invest more :31:

    Astonishes me

I think the abuse is born out the fact people aren't realising Celtic is a plc and it is not a billionaires play thing.

Dermot Desmond has done nothing but good for Celtic, he is losing money being in the position he is for the sake of the club he loves.

    Bingo!

I bet these same people who post that Desmond should sell up weren't witness to the absolute shambles and blatant disregard for good business we had to endure at the hands of the Kelly's, White and Smith. I won't accuse them of anything illegal but they were in control of our club till it was minutes away from closure at the hands of the BOS.

It's crazy that a lot of fans find it funny that our city rivals are now going through turbulent financial times yet want our major shareholder to sell up, without knowing what the next day would bring.

    Incredible

im in a catch 22 here...
I'd love to see him invest in the team, but theres that word again! INVEST!

Investment, in finance, = the action performed by a company, a person (investor), or project for the goal of gaining a profitable return..

there is absolutely no chance of a profitable return in the SPL, and even if he did buy lets say Robbie Keane for 8-10 mil, or even handed over 20 mil to spend freely it still wouldn't guarantee a decent run in the CL were the real money is made. I actually remember just a few years ago AC Milan spent just over 100 million on players and won fek all for nearly two years. we could not afford that kind of failure.

I fail to understand what our fans want from Dermot Desmond.

I have to say again I don't understand the abuse directed at Desmond. He has pumped millions into the club and has been a major factor in all the success we have achieved over the past 10 years. Some fans seem to have very short memories and forget about the dark days in the late 80's and 90's.

There is no hiding the sorry state we are in on the field at the moment and I am sure Desmond would agree with that. But for my mind he has been one of the guys at the helm during an extended period of great success for the club. Now that we are in trouble I have every confidence he will continue to play his role in getting things back on track.

from now on I am not going to put another penny into Celtic, so no more strips , more games and no more filling up on the catalogue when it comes out.

Where would we be then if we all decided our money was better used elsewhere?

Remember, he is making money from Celtic, and doesn't need to put his hand in his pocket for any game or any merchandise.

yes I see where you are coming from, just wonder if you call yourself a loyal fan with your " if it was me " bit

I know I am attacking you here pal but it has got to the point that I cant take anymore of people thinking that they support a club when they are not interested in contributing to help it improve.

I have contributing a minimum of at least 10% of my earning every year for the last couple of decades and I am sure I don't just speak for myself here.

So why should my like continue when we see the money we put in going into bonuses rather than better players.

The fans contibute to more than 50% of the income that Celtic take in ever year, so without us, we would nothing.

Dermot Desmond has lost money, not made money from his investment in Celtic.

His investment cost him approximately 86 million pounds, if you go through the financial statements I'm sure the preference dividend and salary earned will come nowhere near that and the current value of his investment is nowhere near how much it cost him so he has no chance of making that back.

Desmond has made money from Celtic??? your having a laugh right?? Just shows you how much you know eh.

Am not even going into every bit of your post, but i like you spend hundrads of £s each year following celtic, was there in the good old days when we where getting 8,000 at the old celtic park so dont even go there you muppet.

If it was not for guys like Desmond we would be in a worse situation than we are now and its time people like you woke up.

since we have been basically told to f*** off by the EPL, then we are basically stuck where we are, and in the same circumstances that we are now. as things stand with the money we make, this calibre of playing squad is just about the best we could hope for. thats not to say that we couldnt be getting much much more out of the players.

what i'm saying is, that the only way we will ever move forward in any great leaps and bounds is if we are going to be written a big cheque by the likes of desmond or whoever. we're basically a small team in a smaller league and unless we get some outside help then we're just going to have to deal with that.

But surely that's like saying, "we got just as high a points total but we didn't win the league, so what's the difference"

In terms of actual success, which is what we're talking about, the points total or goal difference or whatever is neither here nor there. MON tried 5 times and never managed it, GS did it twice in successive years. That's what I mean by success.

Seville was great, don't get me wrong, but the only reason we were there at all is that we got put out the Champions League in the qualifying round - we didn't even make the group stage.

But in any case, my point is that they were both excellent managers for us - and both were brought in and funded by DD. :50:
