Scottish football is dying and is too impotent and parochial to change itself to save itself. Everyone can see it, everyone knows it and everyone says it. The SPL, and Scottish football as a whole, is a joke and a hinderence to our a club of our stature and our ambition. We have all seen the effects of this gradually weaken our club over the last seven years, and if Celtic can engineer a way out and get into English competition, then I'm all for it.

Facts?, facts like....being outspent by the huns in this window alone! Facts like appointing a novice manager[something we have done before disasterously] to go head to head with one of the most experienced, successful managers in Britain. Facts like ..he can't even be bothered to turn up to one of our most important cup semis for donkey's but instead wanted to go to a * GOLF tournament!:47: Fact llike presinding over a drastic decline in the clubs playing and coaching staff over the past seven years. Facts like..we have an even weaker playing squad now than we did at the end of LAST season:47::47:...all of this just off the top of my head.

His only statement of note I ever remember him making is "Celtic do not have a benefactor" Yeah don't we * know it...the *!

Now please go and research the facts and come back and enlighten me as to why we are so * lucky to have this "great man" to be our MD, or whatever he calls himself.

Think we should jump at the chance if it ever really comes across.

ANYway he said in the live on the pitch interview after the game that wgs would get all the resourses he wants to get the team stronger as celtic should be winning this title everyear..or words to that effect

i think we lost the title the following year because we never spent anymoney

Good point about Cardiff City. If they do get promoted, it will improve Celtic's chances of joining the EPL.

    Come the Cardiff!

The EPL will have to keep advancing it's product. Particularly when the foreign squillionaires get fed up and stop funding them. EPL player wages will put clubs under severe pressure and they will reluctantly have to look to Celtic and Rangers to up the ante in the EPL. It's only a matter of time before Sky say it's a good idea. The hype and interest would be incredible. Particularly when you compare Celtic and Rangers coming into the league against the likes of Stoke or Wigan.

I would much rather us form a deal with the premier league to share TV coverage and what not, that way we get the money and keep the European nights. If we join the English system it would take us maybe 10-15 years to really even start challenging for Europe in the PL

I hope we do join the EPL. Scottish football is a dead end at the moment. Who or what businessman wants to pour serious money into it? Who is even genuinely making real steps to improving it beside making reports? The guys that run our game are just out trying to make a living the best they can, the same as a lot of us, and probably wouldn't dare uproot the game completely at such financial cost with a possibility of failure. And yet with England being major force of the UK, how do we compete in a sports business market where England is the King of the banquet table? We really need to get as much kids as possible into football at a young age, playing lots of it and with the proper guidence and training.

Even if it did come off [which it wont ,not in my lifetime anyway] it would take at least 5 years to implement with contracts with Sky ,the EPL,the SPL,and if it was a 2 tier system as in 2 leagues you have the Championship to take into account which has a different sponsor im sure ,,,years ill tell yeh ,,This is Dermots dream but i just cant see it ever happening but maybe he does see a way in because he is always chasing it .

If the old firm go south it will help scottish football leaving the smaller clubs to fight it out every year and win the SPL

It would give them something to play for

Thats true but a lot of them rely on them because of the support and the inflated prices they charge.

TBH if Celtic and/or the Scum left Scottish Football i wouldn't give a rats * about the rest of the teams left as they have been riding our coat-tails for years whilst complaining about us.

Anyways if we were to join English Football i would prefer it if we started from the bottom..say Blue Square Conference and earn our way up the leagues.

Are you serious? Just imagine trying to attract a player and telling him we play in the blue sq. Then the fans turning on the manager/board for not buying quality. Talk sense man:icon_mrgreen:

Yes true we would lose most of our top players and we would certainly not be able to attract any top class players.

But my thinking is that it would mean that the Club would have no choice but to utilize from their youth academy, thus bringing players through the ranks and building a solid base to the club.
