Dermot Desmond says Celtic will join EPL.

Desmond is the man. It will happen in time

 

I don't see anywhere in that report where he says: Celtic Will Join The SPL

He said Media companies will dictate whether it happens or not, which is true.

It's all about clout, if enough big-hitters down there want it to happen it will, but people have to ask themselves, what's in it for them (the EPL)? The answer is '* all' except some * off clubs and crowd trouble.

Ultimately, it will only happen if TV deals start flagging and attendances drop, there's no sign of that down there.

They don't need us

 

Sky/ESPN currently pay us £1.5m a yr to show our SPL matches which in normally one every 2 weeks
If we moved to the EPL, they would be paying us £40m a yr and we would probably be on once every 3-4 weeks
They are not going to get their value for money from forcing the EPL to allow us in it doesn't make commercial sense to to the TV companies
They won't get an extra £38m worth of business every season from us being there

He's a * imposter, that's what he is. A man whom has given us little more than lip service! If he was any other nationality other than Irish he would be getting chased down London Rd[if he could ever be bothered to come to a game] with big sticks. The man? Give me * strength!

 

Honestly dont think this will ever happen. If you had asked me about it a few years ago I would have jumped at the chance, now im not so sure. The only way to break into the top 2 or 3 in England is to spend money you have nt got with the risks that go with it, or sell your soul to some sugar daddy who will bankroll it. That does nt sit comfortably with me as I think we would quickly lose what we are all about. I think its time to stop beating ourselves up over how "good" the premiership is and concentrate in putting the game in order at home. Also if we went down there just to be in the top half , no european footie etc no titles etc and just become an aston villa, everton type of team I think we would grow bored with it. Also the days of the biggest supported teams being the most successful are gone, its all about which clubs owner has the most money, so it would nt matter if we had a re vamped stadium holding 100,000 its all cash

 

Sweet Jesus, the above comment would make one weep, go and learn the facts before vilifying the man,

 

dont think it will ever happen we must start focusing on ways to improve ourselves without the epl silly money such as broadcasting our own games and developing more players through our youth academy both of which will help us to make more money and save more money respectively what i do think might happen down the road is a cup competition which involves all of britain in the place of one of our domestic cups

 

Smoking mirrors again, big pipe dream, would be relegated first season, under MONs team would have done well, but not with this lot couldn't tackle a fish supper and keep all those class players from scoring ha ha made me laugh anyway, had enough of spin doctors

Dont want us to join the EPL but I think its the only way the club can progress on the field , If we stay in Scotland the quality of football is in terminal decline .

 

i think mr desmond is trying to deflect away from our bad run in europe with this nothing story as the epl clubs dont want us and thats final ,he be better doing more by turning up at the clubs agm for once .

never going to happen the epl is a billion pound product and the epl teams dont want to share any of it with anybody.i think theres more chance of a european league starting in 5-10 years because that would make sky even more money than the epl.
