This is a * awful move, i can't understand why people think this is good. China for f*ck sake? no way! out in the wilderness of the footballing world, thats a move you make when your 40 and after a nice bit of cash to retire on.

I predict he'll be back after half a season.

Rangers would be the team to suffer if the SPL got stronger. Why do you want the better players gone?

Perhaps moving to a completely different culture will help him grow up. He has spent his entire career to date in Scotland, either at Hibs or with us & in all that time he has had more issues off the park than he has ever had on it. The move gives Deek the opportunity to focus on his football, while living there (where he will be a relative unknown) will teach him discipline & mature as a person.

DEREK RIORDAN has quit his China adventure after just four months.
The ex-Hibs and Celtic star's two-year deal at Shaanxi Chanba has been ended by mutual consent.
Riordan made the shock move in July but had a string of run-ins with new manager Gao Hongbo.
Last month Hongbo launched a scathing attack on the former Scotland cap and insisted his performances were 'not proportional to his ability'.
Then the manager claimed Riordan, 28, had gone AWOL in the city of Xi'an, which has a population of 8.5 million.
Now Riordan has called it quits after scoring just one goal in China, but he would still like to play abroad.
Agent Jim McArthur said: "Derek has reached a mutual agreement with Shaanxi to leave. He enjoyed his experience in China, but he was out there without his partner and young daughter and was missing them and it turned out to be simply too far for him.
"Derek remains keen to try a new challenge abroad, but closer to home. He'll look at new opportunities on his return."
Several Turkish clubs are believed to be looking at the free agent.

In all seriousness - who the * advised Riordan to go to China???

He was never in a million years going to have the strength of mind & character to survive somewhere so few folk speak English.

    Talk about poorly advised...

A Scotsman playing football in China is a bad idea in the first place. It took McGeady a while to adapt to the life and culture of Russia. I imagine China would be even harder.

Riordan will probably end up back at Hibs again.

Yeah, but like I say, you need a strong mind and character to move to a country where you're not able to speak the language.

A flaky wee chav like Riordan who can't even keep himself out of trouble in Scotland was never going to hack it over there.

He's probably made a good few bob from the adventure, so job done I would imagine for Derek Riordan.

Aye, but he's probably spent a good few bob as well.

Don't want to sound like I have something against Deeks, because I admire him as a player, but he's the sort of guy that however much he makes out of football, he'll likely be skint and signing on 24 months after his career is over.

The story that came out just before his first match says it all really.

Club went to another city to play, think it was Shenzhen or something, were in the hotel room the night before and he just went out and got smashed in the singing bars. He was not in his hotel the next morning and was found at 11 am at a hotel further down the road with 2 chinese hookers. Or so was reported by his club.

I have been following him closely and all he has been doing is * his huge wages up against the wall. Turning up hung over and generally not trying to fit into the culture at all, considering the city he is living in is hardly an international city in China. He refused language lessons.

However, take Killen for example. Loved in China, gets the head down, doesnt drink and plays well. Adapting to the weird level of football in china.

Riordan is a huge * up of a boy.
