Yep, players in/plenty out but ignoring the fact that we're playing Barca & Pep's City - good chance they will reach last 8 if not last 4 - my concern is that we can't compete with midfield we have in the CL groups, especially when teams come at us?

Been the same for a good while now. Griff is our talisman and our most important player, even with guys of supposedly higher calibre coming in like Toure, Sinclair and Dembele.

Play all 3 of Griff, Sinclair and Dembele 50 games over a season. There's only 1 player scoring the most goals.

Perhaps drawing such a strong group deterred further investment in the first team as it was seen as pointless.

Usually the moaners complain the board leave signings late , the board brought in signings early now the moaners are complaining of no deadline day deal

I said the same. No point in overspending to try and finish 3rd for the europa league. We still have a massive squad that needs trimmed but that will take time. Were still paying the price for the last 3 years.

At least we kept jozo and hopefully he can get fit and reach his potential.

Midfield 3 of brown bitton and rogic will have to do with callum hendo and armstrong backups.

Its a market we cannot be rash in nowadays. 10m plus for guys that have played a dozen efl championship games now.

The transformation of the team will take a good bit longer.

Doing one doesn't preclude the other.

The board received plaudits for hiring Rodgers and allowing him to reinforce the squad for the qualifiers. Having done a remarkable job in doing so in so little time, it's a reasonable assertion that he should be allowed to strengthen areas he feels we require it.

We have arguably never been in a stronger position financially yet people think it's unreasonable to request modest investment - beyond a £2 million net spend in transfer fees and increase in wages - to back Rodgers who has worked wonders.

Brenda's the best signing we made, we also brought in new backroom staff and seven players and a lot have gone onto pastures new.

It's been a busy Summer, we have what we have and there is always the free market if we felt we needed someone else in.

Not the best way to go always, but it's a market with no transfer fees and a few will have been offloaded yesterday.

Not something we generally do, but if the quality is there.......do it.

The positive thing about yesterday was getting rid of Janko, sends out a strong message, if your not good enough you're out..

The rest who might be borderline have to Jan to prove their worth...

It's really poor that we failed to bring in a midfielder in all honesty. It's an area of out team that has been week for a long, long time and needs addressed.

It's almost irrelevant who we have in defence, as seen by how much VVD and Denayer strugged in Europe, when we don't protect the back line properly. I get the feeling that lacking a solid defensive midfielder who is comfortable on the ball being in beside Brown will come back to haunt us in Europe.

I think we got unlucky yesterday all of our potential midfielder signings depended on other signings going ahead which ended up not happening. If sissoko chose Everton we would have had McCarthy on loan. If Simunovic signed for Torino we had an extra 4.5 mill to spend. And then last minute we tried to get Morrison without enough time to negotiate with WBA I'm happy enough with the signings Brendan has made since he has come in I just hope he doesn't leave us after this season and continues to push us on!
