What you're looking at then is maybe shifting Sviatchenko into midfield. Before anyone starts we all know what position he plays. Same goes for Simunovic. Not seen much from him, but he certainly has the technique to do a job if you want to go into park the bus mode.

As it is, we'll maybe need to say to one or two, if they want to play they'll need to develop into a slightly different role.

My guess is Brenda won't do that and we'll throw caution to the wind and try to go for it and pray for some good luck.

The reality is it takes time for us to build a team. Brenda's maybe fast forwarded the ins and outs.

Some players got new contracts as well in this window, so a lot of work has gone into this already in a really short period of time.

If we win the head-to -head games against Borussia, we'll go into the Europa and if not, then it won't be from a lack of effort.

The thing is mate, we know we were looking at CM's but for one reason or another we couldn't get a deal done.

I'd much rather go with what we have than to panic buy someone to placate the support.

To an extent yes of course but its just baffling with the money we have raked in this summer that there wasnt more invested, personally i was expecting a 5m cm bought and that wouldve kept me happy..

Thats true to an extent too but toure is a free transfer on a one year contract his wages arent going to be hitting us such a massive blow.

Sinclair was the only player bought for a sizeable fee and im sure hes on a big enough wage too but thats exactly what we should have been doing and i dont think one more player of that ilk would have caused any financial problems

I was simply pointing out that our midfield would still have been the weakest of the other teams in our CL Group even if we had brought in McCarthy. If anyone was hoping our midfield was going to be better than any of the other three team then they are living in a fantasy world.

In fact, read my other post and you will see I was disappointed that we didn't bring in another central midfielder. You carry on though.

 

Initially i was dissapointed we didn't sign anyone yesterday. But looking at the signings we've made so far and the other business of contracts for a few others being sorted i think it has been the best transfer window in a long time.

I honestly think that the decision we made to not sign a class CM will have huge impact on Rodgers motivation to stay with us for longer than this season. He probably realized the same thing that Lennon did - no real progress can be made on cheap
